I was told that "5Dimes, Olympic, Cris, DSI, BetJamaica are all solid books that still take U.S. customers".

Is he correct?

Which one of them is the best?

Thanks,
JB

Hi Mizzou:

Hope you're doing well.....

The two sportsbooks I have used over the past 9 years online are WSEX and CRIS. They have both treated me very well over the years. I receive payoffs within an hour of request (of course that will change now with netellers demise). But the point is, they both have great customer service (in my opinion).
WSEX will give you the better value with baseball money lines. CRIS can sometimes give you a better price on the run line... CRIS of course has the early line on Sunday night for pro and college football and are not afraid of the action.
A man who I respect and knows these books very well, told me something I thought was interesting:
"Most books move lines based on the market, CRIS is the one who moves it based upon their action". "The others many times will follow CRIS's moves and action".
Take that for what it's worth... I know that you have been playing for a long time and know your way around.... I would think it would benefit you to have an account there (CRIS) if for nothing else, to watch the action. Also, if you do decide to open an account there, Make sure to sign up for the loyalty program. It sure adds up quickly and you end up with free plays that can help you along your way....
Take care and as always.... good luck Mizzou....

I have been using sportsbook.com as a backup book now for 7 or 8 years and have never had a problem with them. They seem to only take credit/debit card action now, but I've never had trouble getting one approved. Same with Olympic.

just the man I wanted to talk to..

I left WSEX a few years back for the very reason you said you liked them..
"WSEX will give you the better value with baseball money lines. "
I thought the baseball values were poor compared to Pinnacle..especially once they got to the 160 range.
Did they improve the last few years.?

While I see you didn't endorse their football...there is another example of bad juice...like today where there is a $12.00 diff. in the saints/bears as I type

+2.5 -110 wsex
+2.5 +102 pinnacle

Do you recall overnight baseball lines at CHRIS?
in years past at SIA and Pinnacle we could catch some real nice baseball lines.
Especially at Pinny.. and then at SIA when they would finally post and get the inflated dog # catching real live dogs.

if ya get a minute shot me some feed back.I look foreward to your response.

I am really looking toward playing alot of baseball this season and need a good house.

I know the days of Pinny are gone..but..20 cent baseball and $12.00 on $100.00 DIFF IN MONEYLINE IS STIFF

or then again maybe the joke is on me..

has this been the prices folks are paying outside of Pinny

"But the point is, they both have great customer service (in my opinion)."
Dealt w/WSEX for years and yes this is true..didn't stay CRIS long..so can't comment.

I will say customer service is important...

take my money..pay me when I win..and take some more of my money when I lose..
and hire friggin people I can understand..if 60% of the off-shore business is out of the USA then made sure the reps can speak and understand ENGLISH..not a lot to ask.

Good Luck To All...

PS...I have tried calling around to the various books trying to get some straight answers about how they will deal w/deposits and withdraws [ie..free moneygram in..free FEDEX OUT..seems simple enough to me]after this last defection by neteller and the likes..
like pulling eye teeth getting someone who either has a clue or speaks ENGLISH.
I don't talk to people who call my house and speak in broken ENGLISH..damn sure not going to do it to give somebody my money..

ps..ps...If I am missing the boat here somebody please just point it out..

getting old..:scared but love'n everyday

I tried to open an account at Sportsbook.com and got the below message:

"We are sorry, but we are not allowed to accept transactions from the state that you selected in the registration form."

I then tried CRIS and my credit cards would not go through.

Now what?

Sorry that you had the experience you did......
Like I said, I have had nothing but good luck with both wsex and cris.....
I used wsex for the ml baseball and thought it provided me with value throughout the season...
I can't explain or excuse anything that may of happened to you..... I can only speak for myself and what I do.....
I don't want to lead anyone in the wrong direction and hope that these books will be good towards others (like they have to me)....
The way things are going, we all may be asking for referrals to some local and going back to the dark ages again.....(God, I hope not)....
Always glad to correspond with you guys....
take care.....raybo

I'd be extremely hesitant about opening any new online account without talking to someone from that respective company. I'd most certainly ask if they have future plans on continuing business with U.S. customers. Could save you a lot of time and most certainly some dinero

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
egrmagazine.com (eGaming Review) (1/30/07):

"Rumours suggesting further online gaming arrests planned for this week have been denied by the Department of Justice (DoJ) in New York and Washington DC this afternoon.

A spokesperson said: ?Nothing would be made public until an individual or company was charged.?

According to sources in Washington DC who have spoken to eGaming Review, the US authorities are on the verge of unsealing another set of indictments against a high-profile US-facing betting and gaming operator.

A move against the rumoured target in Superbowl week would be bound to be grab the headlines. It would also follow on from the arrests earlier in January of the two founders of Neteller, Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre.

eGaming Review will report more as the story develops."

I agree this is the right approach. Unless the company is real reputable, i would prefer to speak to the customer service to understand more.

Net-betting crackdown freezes funds

Net-betting crackdown freezes funds

Net-betting crackdown freezes funds
Updated 2/1/2007 10:12 PM ET
By Jon Swartz, USA TODAY
SAN FRANCISCO ? The federal crackdown on online gambling has tied up the funds of thousands of U.S. patrons of two of the largest services.
The crackdown on BetOnSports, which no longer takes sports wagers from the USA, and Neteller ? an Internet payment service popular among gamblers ? is intended to put a dent in the $10.6 billion industry.

And it has: Following federal charges against executives from both companies, dozens of the more than 2,300 websites that service online gambling have stopped taking U.S. wagers.

Still, the actions against BetOnSports and Neteller have left the online accounts of their U.S. customers frozen until legal issues are resolved.

"The truth is that the money is in limbo and the companies are not required to refund any money until a successful prosecution or settlement takes place," says Michael Tew, principal of gaming consultant CapitalHQ. "This could take years." Funds from other gambling sites are not tied up, Tew and others say.

Most U.S. customers of BetOnSports have been waiting to cash out money in their accounts since July, when a federal grand jury issued a 22-count indictment charging CEO David Carruthers with racketeering, conspiracy and fraud. BetOnSports handled $1.77 billion in bets during its 2005 fiscal year, with more than 90% of wagers from the USA. An attorney representing the company declined to comment.

Neteller founders Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre were arrested in January on a charge of conspiracy to transfer funds with the intent to promote illegal gambling.

Though money-transfer companies such as Neteller do business with financial institutions and merchants, many also allow gambling companies to transfer money collected from U.S. gamblers to bank accounts outside the USA. Neteller last month closed its U.S. Internet gambling services, erasing about two-thirds of its business.

Neteller offers few instructions for customers trying to cash out their accounts. "We are working to resolve all withdrawal issues, but in the meantime we continue to maintain these funds in trust on your behalf," says a posting on the company's website.

Neteller declined to comment. The company processed more than $7 billion in online gambling transactions in its 2005 fiscal year. FBI Agent Neil Donovan says funds from Neteller are being held in court as potential evidence. Some customers may get their money back, but he did not provide a timetable.

A law signed by President Bush in October bans the use of credit cards, checks and electronic fund transfers for Internet gaming. U.S. residents place more than half of all bets to major offshore casinos.

BetOnSports has settled civil charges with the Justice Department, but not criminal charges. Carruthers' case is separate.

Ain't it great to be a free American?

The mafia and local books will flourish now.

Do these dumb sob's think they can stop us from gambling? I'd be looking for ways to make money off it rather than closing it down and putting it underground. My local book is smiling ear to ear. Watch, the Indian Casinos will probably start adding sports books now and that will be okay.

George Bush signs it into law? He can't get anything right. His legacy will be that of the worst president in U.S. History! We can't get his sorry ass out of the White House fast enough.

If this is freedom, oppression can't be far away.
