I like the Red Storm, obvious, but is Niagra any good?? St. John's did lose to Manhatten the other day too. seem like a poor shooting team.

1. The team is spelled "Niagara" like Niagara Falls not like Viagra.

2. Niagara is not that good, an average MAAC team. My numbers have St Johns as ten points better.

St. John's is 11-1 vs. Niagara in their L12, Niagara's last win vs St John's in the Gallagher Center was in 1970 when future NBA star Calvin Murphy was Niagara's top gun.

Only thing to be careful of here is that Niagara is very tough at home: 296-120 (71%) at Gallagher Center since it was opened in 1949.

FWIW Manhattan is pretty good this year. In that loss, St John's leading scorers Glover and Hatten couldn't buy a basket (they shot a combined 7/26 from the field). But Hatten has been having trouble all season, hitting just 30% from the field. But that hasn't stopped him from taking shots, he's averaging 17 shots/game.

I think St John's should run their record to 12-1 vs Niagara in their L13 but as you note the Red Storm's poor shooting will keep me off of this one.

edited to make a couple of corrections/clarifications

Taken from the paper:
http://nypost.com/sports/6908.htm

"And Niagara doesn't have to dig through the record books to find a win over St. John's. In the 1997-98 season, Niagara crushed St. John's 86-63 in The Garden. St. John's already has taken one MAAC team lightly. "

And Niagara isn't 1-11 vs. St. Johns, the series is at 23-65 all time. Niagara is just one for it's last 12 vs. the Red Storm.

So before you make fun of someone for a typo why not double check your stats, too.

i say St. John's will win and cover over Viagra Niagra. Than after the game they toss the whole team in one big barrel and hurl their asses into Niagra Falls for losing so bad

No problem, Wondo.

In fact I have great respect for Niagara they have a great basketball tradition dating back to Calvin Murphy in the late 60s and Ed Fleming in the early 50s.

I went to Colgate in the late 70s and can remember Niagara thumping us on a regular basis.

My error, I left out the words "at home": Niagara's last win over St. John's at the Gallagher Center was 2/21/70 when they beat St John's 72-70. Calvin Murphy scored 32.

I have so much respect for Niagara at home that I'm laying off of this game even though I think St John's has the much better team this year.

as far as i know Williams is playing.

In the local paper they didn't say no key

injuries and Sawyer looks like he is back

to play too. I like them tonight. Will be

close but i like them in the end.
