If Maryland and Stanford both win and meet in the next round, you probably will be looking at 6 1/2 - 7 1/2 Stanford. Have not finished capping possibilities after this round so, this is a guess. Lots of things can change the formula like injuries etc. but my early numbers look this way.
No way the number would be that high, or at least it shouldn't be. I'm thinkin Stanford -3 or so. If indeed those two teams play, I think the Terrapins will win. I have them beating Stanford in my bracket anyway.
You fellows are probably right as far as the actual betting line. The book has to put it at a number that will draw action from both sides. Certainly the 2-3 point range should do that but as I said, it was early and that I was only using the numbers that I have for my own ratings. If Stanford is at 8 1/2 tonight against Cincinnati certainly they won't be that against Maryland in the next round should they meet. Hope you guys are right I have Maryland in my pool.
Public seems to really like Maryland but they have shown themselves to be shaky at times. I realize they are playing well right now but less than a month ago people were ready to bury them and were coming down hard on Gary Williams. They were booed unmercifully in their own gym. Also, there is a reason Stanford is 30-2. (Those two losses are also still playing in the Tournament) GL to everyone no matter how it goes.
That number should bring home the action they want.
There will be much interest in this game. Lots of Terp fans out there and giving them points will make em hungry. This has the makings of a great matchup. MARCH MADNESS IS SO SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Ya Gotta Love It. GL
I liked Maryland origionally but I think the Maryland backers are getting screwed on this line.....Duke played MD in tha ACC tourney and the line was 6......Now I consider Duke and Stanford to be pretty equal....why is this line only 2-2.5......Stanford is 30-2 and their loss to Arizona at Maples could have easily been a win.....they had a couple of 4 pt leads with uder 2 minutes to go.....I remember them being up by four with about 1 min 40 sec at Casey Jacobsen having a wide open 3....if it goes game over(Can you tell I had Stanford) anyhow it is kind of hard to bet against a team with such a low spread when they have won like 60 out of their last 68 games......Last year included
