Tippett used Kirk Muller and Manny Malhotra at center in practice Thursday and probably will move one of them from the wing into a center spot. Tippett said Rob DiMaio also can play center. The Stars recalled winger Jon Sim, but Tippett is expected to insert Scott Pellerin or Aaron Downey into the lineup Friday against Anaheim.
Arnott's absence also is going to cause some interesting decisions concerning the use of Mike Modano and Turgeon. Modano played 27:20 on Wednesday, including nearly six minutes on the penalty kill. Turgeon played 11:09, none of it on the penalty kill.
Because of that, Modano was given the day off Thursday to rest for back-to-back games Friday (Anaheim) and Saturday (at Phoenix).

Newly acquired defenseman Stephane Robidas said he felt comfortable in his first game, playing 9:15 after having just one practice with the team. "It just takes a little time to learn everything here," he said.
Goaltender Marty Turco on the comment by Avalanche goalie Patrick Roy that Turco was "fortunate" in making some saves Wednesday. "I don't really worry about that stuff. Hey, at least he's talking about me. It's my first acknowledgement that he knows I'm there."
