I was at MCI Center the last time OTT was here last March. Wow, what a game! WASH came back from 3 down in the 3rd and won 6-5. Unbelievable game. I am surprised Lalime is not starting after back to back shutouts recently.

Some more info from the Caps site...

Tuesday night brings the Ottawa Senators to town for a clash of capital cities. The Ottawa bunch is on fire of late, having won a franchise record six straight contests. The Capitals ended a six-game winless skid with a 3-0 win over Atlanta on Saturday and now look to start their first winning streak in more than three weeks.

Ottawa?s recent surge has vaulted it to within three points of the Toronto Maple Leafs for the top spot in the Northeast Division. Before winning their sixth straight game on Saturday night over Nashville, the Sens had won five straight games four different times. The current streak started on October 25 with a convincing 7-2 win over the Flyers in Philadelphia. In the six wins, Ottawa has outscored opponents by a combined total of 24-8. The Sens have allowed as many as three goals only once in the steak, a 6-3 win over the Thrashers in Atlanta.

Scoring diversity has been a key to Ottawa?s early season success. Six different Sens have scored at least four goals in the team?s 16 games and a dozen different players have scored at least twice. By comparison, five Capitals have scored as many as four goals but only seven have scored at least twice.

Like the Capitals, the Senators spent most of the month of October on the road. The Sens played eight of their 13 October games away from home and did not have consecutive home contests until November rolled around. The schedule has been much kinder to the Sens in the season?s second month. Ottawa plays only 10 games in November - eight of them at home. Tuesday?s game in DC is Ottawa?s first road tilt since it visited Atlanta on October 30. After taking on the Capitals, the Senators return home for a five-game homestand. They don?t hit the road again until they venture to St. Louis on November 27.

The Ottawa power play is ranked 16th in the NHL at 14.4 percent. The Senators have scored 10 power play goals this season and nine of those have been scored on the road. Ottawa?s power play unit has struggled this season. The Sens rank 23rd in the league with a kill rate of 83.5 percent.

The Capitals are coming off a much-needed win over Atlanta and are looking to sustain some consistency and string together some victories. Washington plays four of its next five and six of its next nine on home ice. The Capitals are 53-16-15-4 on home ice since the beginning of the 1999-2000 season.

The injury-riddled Capitals learned on Saturday that Calle Johansson - the team?s best all-around defenseman - would be lost for the remainder of the 2001-02 season because of a rotator cuff injury. With Johansson, Ken Klee and Brendan Witt all out of the lineup, Washington was forced to summon blueliners Jakub Cutta and Dean Melanson from its Portland farm club of the AHL. Cutta, 19, made his 2001-02 debut with the Caps after appearing in three NHL contests last season. Melanson, 27, saw his first NHL action since he performed in five games for the Buffalo Sabres in 1994-95.

Jeff Halpern and Chris Simon each scored against Atlanta, ending lengthy droughts. Halpern?s only previous goal this season came on opening night against New Jersey - it was the first goal scored by Washington this season. Simon?s goal ended a 26-game dry spell. He last dented the twine in Montreal on February 17 of last season.

The Caps? power play is the league?s fourth best at 19.5 percent. Washington?s beleaguered penalty killing unit performed well in the Atlanta game, successfully snuffing out all nine Thrasher power play opportunities. The Capitals still rank 26th overall in NHL penalty killing proficiency, but Washington?s kill rate crept up to 80.9 percent with the nine-for-nine outing on Saturday.

I'm wondering when it's the last time a team scored 11 goals in an NHL game and... *gulp* ...when is the last time a game ended with the exact score 11-5... if any..?
