I have not posted but once this year in college hoops. I am very grateful for this site as I have had back to back years of success in Pro and College Hoops. I have been very thankful for a great year in Pro Baskets from my own capping coupled with the efforts of Fletcher, Raymond, Thunder, Giantfan, Hoops, Volfan, eztds, JT Sneaks, and several other contributors. Madjack, this site is nothing short of pure genius...Thank you!

I am knocking on wood before this next statement. I have seemed to have more success in playing baseball then any other sport and therefore feel that I must start contributing to this site for all it has done for me over the last 2 years. I don't start betting baseball until the third week which starts for me today. I will post my OPINIONS (picks) with a "unit" on a scale of 1-5units. Very seldom will you see me post a 5 unit selection but they do come up from time to time. Sorry for the lenghthy message, but with the talent in this forum I wanted to give a brief intro and cudos to those that are so deserving.

MLB Record YEAR (0-0)
MLB Record WEEK (0-0)

Monday 4/15

Expos (Pavano) +130 1unit
Texas (Burba) +130 2units

reasoning to follow!

reasoning for monday plays:

Texas (+130)

I have watched Burba in both his starts and with the exception of 9 walks (first start at Oakland home plate umpire was tight) he has looked good. He is consistantly hitting upper 80's lower 90's with his fast ball and his slider has looked pretty good as well. He had 6 K's in 5 innings pitched at Oakland and 3 K's in The Ballpark in 5 2/3 innings his second time vs Oakland. The pen has been worked heavily in this series and has looked absolutely horrible all year, BUT I think we will see Van Poppell first tonight and he looked very good the other night vs Seattle going 2 2/3 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, walked only 1 and struck out 2. The Rangers club house (believe it or not) is staying positive from interviews I have heard on the radio in Dallas today. They have had some bad luck usually caused in 1 or 2 innings of each loss. Burba is 5-1 vs Sea in his career (one user noted that he was with Cleveland who provided offensive power and runs for this record, but this team can do that as well). He has a 5.51 ERA vs them with 43 K's and only 17 BB. Baldwin on the other hand is 4-4 with a 5.59 ERA, 26BB, and 35 K's. Baldwin does not fare well against Greer .357 in 28AB, Pudge or AROD. Look for Texas to win in a high scoring game. Rocker gets his second save!

MON (+130)

Wood is a 0-3 vs Montreal. He has given up 27 hits, 20 earned runs, walked 18 and struck out 20 in 22 innings. He has a 8.18 ERA. If he actually goes tonight he will be pitching with a blister on his right thumb which he has been complaining heavily about. (excuses, excuses)...Pavano is coming off a very solid start is 1-0 vs the cubs with a 3.86 ERA. Montreal comes home (not much of an advantage I know) after a 9 game road trip that they went 5-4 on. They feel that they played well enough to have gone 7-2 or 6-3. Either way they are tied for second and will start a 13 game homestead. Hopefully the fans turn out! Either way Pavano gets it done against a cubbie team wondering where their offense is.

Well, maybe I should have waited one more week to start. Burba again looked ok after a shaky first inning start. The offense was there for the Rangers, BUT again the bull pen absolutely killed us. I wish they had gone with Van Poppel first as he looked good for the second time in a row. Colby Lewis and Dan Miceli's stats were just plain pitiful (2 2/3 inns combined, 6H, 6ER, 6BB, and 2K's) WOW! Kerry Wood wasn't dominating. In fact Montreal just seem to be very unfortanate in hitting the ball right to people all night. Either way, I thought both plays had good value, getting money with decent pitchers at home but both proved to come out on the wrong side. Either way, we are 0-2 (luckly only -2units) and excited about a couple games this evening. Will back before 5:00pm Central time with Tuesdays Opinions.

Thanks,
