3 of the 4 States (Montana, Delaware, and Oregon) which by law have the right to have Sports Gambling DON"T have it on a large scale like VEGAS? I know Delaware did have NFL parlay cards. Not sure if they still do. Thanks for your answers :0008

Oregon had parlay cards for years but no flat betting. It was for the NFL and NBA games without the Trail Blazers. Overs and unders too.

And I believe they did away with it to get some NCAA basketball tourney games but I could be wrong.

On the course!
Let's say tomorrow, every state can have legalized sports wagering. How would it work?

Would the states be the bookies? Would there be designated shops? Online sites?

I was just at a Shell Gas station today doing the same thing you described above (NHL hockey not NFL).........and have done that since 1994.

Oh and the Province makes a shit ton, I mean a friggen shit ton off of Sports Betting (since 1994), why USA does not do this is beyond me. So so so much cash the various states could make.

And there is a website where you can see weekly how much money "the house" (Province) makes at it is mind numbing how much they make :scared

kick is there a stand alone cashier for gas only?

Just like a lottery terminal in any State in USA, just hand your slip to the guy/girl behind the counter. As for when line changes they just take the game off the board (which is annoying as fuck). Once the Province hits 75k on a game they take it off the board. And remember there are limits as well, you can't walk into a Shell Gas Station and lay down 10 grand:lol:

The casinos have "stand alone" locations where the line changes and they adjust (like Vegas Sportsbooks). There are some Provinces where can bet online now as well, and you can do pools online as well.

Within the next 4-6 years it will be exactly like Australia or UK where you have the stand alone shops, the Province will just let a big company like William Hill, Bet 365 or whatever just run it all and they'll tax the shit out of em. You can already see tons of ads for those huge Sportsbooks, just a matter of time before they step in.

The big UK/Aussy shops are begging to get into Canada, I would think those same shops would go apeshit to get into US market, just let those billion dollar companies run things and tax the fuck out of em, a win/win for both. The Provinces in Canada make huge bank (millions of dollars a week) off sports betting but I think they'd make even more if they just let the experts (William Hill for example) run it. The amount of money the States could make would be insane:scared

But I am guessing the States would think they could run it themselves, which I think would be a mistake. It sure was a clusterfuck back in early 90's when Canada took to the Sports Betting market.

I still remember back in 1994 when in the Province of Ontario they fucked up huge on a bunch of soccer games. They had the start time off by 4 hours on 13 soccer games, when the games were done people were cashing in 6 team parlays at 200-1 odds (there were a bunch of draws), the Province lost millions of dollars in a couple hours, whoops:142smilie

It will happen eventually in USA, but as stated above, just let the big boys (William Hill, Bet365, Sportingbet, Ladbrokes, Paddypower, etc, etc) run things.

If that happened, what would happen to all those Sportsbooks in Antigua & Barbuda, Costa Rica, Curacao, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Panama, etc., etc.

Would they survive:shrug:

I would think the best option would be something similar to OTB sites where max control in the early stages can be managed.

Then expand to the 7-11's and Circle K's and Gulf Stations etc....

That is sort of what happened in Canada, which in my opinion was a mistake. Why not just let the experts take charge from Day 1, and the States sit back and do nothing except collect the taxes?

That process also creates a lot of jobs, just think of all the hiring that would take place, seems logical to me. I mean think of a State like California for example:0071

ALL OF THIS IS INFORMATIVE, BUT MY QUESTION WASN'T ANSWER (EXCEPT FOR OREGON).....IF LEGALIZED SPORTS GAMBLING IS SUPPOSE TO BE A SUCH A BOOM TO STATE ECONOMIES, WHY HAVEN'T OREGON, DELAWARE, AND MONTANA TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF IT? MONTANA MAKES SENSE BECAUSE OF IT'S SMALL POPULATION, BUT DELAWARE WITH IT'S CLOSENESS TO SO MANY OTHER STATES AND OREGON WITH IT'S LARGE CITIES, LOCAATION, AND LIBERAL GOVERNMENT WOULD SEEM TO BE NATURALS

I need to visit Canada! Haven't been there since '91. Gambling, it seems, is embraced up there. I noticed this a few years ago when I saw a few gambling movies which were produced and filmed in Canada.
Kick, is it a part of the culture? Y'now how they say a large % of present-day Native Americans are (unfortunately) alcoholics. Do you know if a large % of Canucks are problem gamblers, since it's legal?

I'd say it is part of the culture, not like the UK or Aussy, but it is there for sure. I have no data at all to back this up but I don't think addiction to gambling has anything to do with it being legal or not. If you are addicted, you will find a way to gamble it really doesn't matter if it is legal or not. But again I have no data to back that up. I am sure there are studies that will say yes and studies that will say no. I guess one could argue that if it is right in your face, it will get you addicted quicker but who knows.
