Absolutely disgraceful. Favre and Bubba Franks should get fined by the league. It clearly was a set-up. I think even the most ardent Packer fans would have to agree. Why on earth would GB even think of passing with a minute and a half left? As for Strahan, he should feel guilty about it. Records are only meaningful if they are accomplished during the normal flow of the game. This smacked of the women's player who was given a "gift layup" to get some scoring record.

This record was all Gastineau had left going for him, and this is how Favre repays him. What the hell is Favre doing celebrating the record with the Giants.

If I was Gastineau I would piledrive favre's head right into the Giants turf.

Bains-

I agree on your Philly assessment. You'd think the Bucs would've liked to have had at least a little positive momentum going. I believe revenge only works when you've lost to a team once. Tampa looked really lost in the playoff game in Philly last year. They'll have to contend with the cold and the surface change. Maybe Dungy is calling real estate agents in Minnesota now.

Glad to see you agree, I find that in a lot of games where the better team is obvious, bettors outsmart themselves into making a case for the weaker team. When a team is dominant at home or in certain weather conditions the play is to play with, not against these trends. I laugh when I see the posts like Tampa to break cold weather streak.

It was reported that Gastineau was seen at a local area NewYork strip club drowning his sorrows with the bottle. Thanks to Favre and Franks.

That probably would've happened even if Strahan didn't get the record handed to him. Didn't that guy have his girlfriend stolen by Sly Stallone? Or maybe it was the other way around.

As a Jets fan, I can assure you that any concern you may have for Mark Gastineau is wildly misplaced. This is a guy who got the sack record because he built himself up with steroids, because he couldn't be double-teamed (played next to Klecko), and because he was the first double-digit sacker to play after they started keeping sack records. He invented the ridiculous and demeaning practice of the "sack dance," he beat up his wife, deserted her, then beat up his girlfriend. Everyone on the team hated him. He wanted Strahan to break the record so he, Mark Gastineau, could get some more TV face time.

Sports is full of this type of incident. Players don't consider that records deserve the same integrity as winning or losing the games, and behave accordingly. So, given that all the principals (Strahan, Favre, Gastineau) seemed to want Strahan to have the record, why should it really matter?
