I am planning on getting a dog (puppy) for my daughter when she turns 10. She's been asking for one for a few years now.
I'm hardly ever home so it wouldn't be fair to the dog. Besides it's like having another kid, it's just a lot of work. And you'll be doing all work not your 10 year old.
