there is so much available technology and the computer techs are so good with these sites that there HAS to be a way to implement this suggestion:

on your wagering pages, have a real-time clock that shows the time of day with the hour, minutes, and seconds ticking away live.

it cant be that hard to get everything synchronized so the books and players are all operating on the same "clock"

nothing is worse than not knowing if a game is going to be pulled off the board the next time you refresh the page, and it would make it a hell of a lot easier to know if you have 20 seconds to make your wager or 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

how do we know if your clock in jamaica or costa rica is early, fast, or right on time with our computer clock or rght on time with the daylight savings clock?

if you put a live clock on your site that ticks away, then theres no excuse for us not to know when a game goes off your board. but its maddening when games are arbitrarily pulled off the board a minute or two early, some then are pulled right on time, and others are pulled 3 or 4 minutes late.

why not just sync it up and make it easy and eliminate all confusion? that way you can pull games right at the same post time for every matchup.

just my opinion.

You are thinking too much like a player and not looking at if from the books perspective. Especially some of the bigger books like pinnacle and those with the bigger limits. Books with big limits can take a big hit in the final seconds.

I agree with you that in a perfect world a countdown clock would be nice. BUT that is to the players advantage. Books do pull a game with a couple minutes left at their discretion. Mainly on lesser action games (baseball where the moneyline is sometimes large) when they reach what their desired balance is. For example they have 50k on team A and 49k on team B with 3 minutes to go (both at -110 for my hypothetical but you get the point). I know this example is stupid, but it proves the point. Then someone fires 1k on team B or a bunch of wagers close to adding to 1k with 1:30 left to go before tip, kick, pitch, whatever. They reach their desired hold or whatever they are comfortable with and book a winner.
Another reason they do it although they probably will deny it is so they can sell of a bad number or dispraportionately bet number. Called laying off. Say book whatever gets hit from open to close on team A of an event and books 100k on it. They only have 10k on team B. They've fooled around with the line all day, but can't get anyone on team B. They are confident with their bookmaking, but don't want that much riding on one game. They use that extra minute or two to lay off action w/ other "outs"

So, its not like they don't have the technology. They have had it since day 1 I assume. I'm just reasonably confident they don't feel the need to use it.

as what seems like always, I couldnt agree more man, 100%, see my thread w/complaint about wwts, it's probably them doing what 'bleedodgerblue' alluded to, or else theyre clocks are off, or my clock is off, either way it's horrible to miss bets like that, sure you might say one shouldnt wait that long to chance being shut out, but it's my right as the player, I just would like to be able to use my time and know what damn time the games go off, if they're doing what 'bleedodgerblue' suggests then it's wrong, but they have that right I guess since it's their business, Id just like to know the reason why there's no standard clock, good point you made here g

bleed:

thats a really good post. interesting perspectives. its no different than locals trying to move some money if they get lopsided action. if thats the case, then id rather the books pull all the games 2 minutes early, or all the games at exactly 7:00pm or whatever the posted start time is. just make it consistent so the players know what to expect. but pulling some early and leaving some up past the posted time just makes it more difficult. olympic is one of the biggest books out there and they leave shit up until the very last second (and sometimes beyond). i guess id just like to know what clock theyre operating on so i can plan accordingly. like mike said, it kind of is your right as a player. if you call your local at 12:59 or 1:00 for an nfl game, hes not going to shut you out.

I would like to se the books have all the scores as they finish. Have a place you can go on the website where you can go and see all the scores for all the different sports.
