I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions regarding a new washer? brand? reliablity? Front load vs top load? Electric vs gas?

hookup - go with whatever you currently have. no sense rewiring things.
personally i prefer a topload....no worry about gasket failure and such(not sure how much of an issue that is...never had one,so i don`t know)...it`s a personal choice....
i would check the hoses on any new machine.....most of `em are thin and flimsy.....the old hoses are a much heavier gauge and i used my old hoses instead of the newer cheesy hoses....
