For most of my life I never paid much attention to lyrics in songs. If I like the beat and the general sense of the lyrics than I like the song (ie Stones, Who, Zepplin tunes). In most part that is due to the type of music I listen too. I still can't figure out what AC/DC are singing in most of their songs. Anyhow, you get my drift.

However as I age, I find myself listening to the lyrics more intently. Just heard Suite Judy Blue Eyes by CSN on the radio. Now obviously, one can easily pick up the lyrics to most if not all of CSN songs. Now I guess I'm just paying more attention. Anyway, I find that the first line of that song really applies to me now. For those of you unfamiliar......

"It's getting to the point where I'm no fun anymore..."

Kinda bummed. Feel like as I age, I've become pretty invisible and the world belongs to the young. I used to be a lot of fun. Now I'm just an old guy. As the next line of Suite Judy Blue Eyes states ..... "I am sorry".

It's a fairly dark song. I'm trying to translate the message they were delivering......

Eddie not sure of your age but getting old doesn't have to suck. I mean it ain't great but remember when we were young and 40 and 50 year old woman looked so old. Now they look young to us! Of course we still look old to them...but who cares? It ain't like they were going to blow us anyway. Carry On.

Stevie,

Going to be 65 in May. Had a little "poor me" moment. Okay now but thanks for the thought. As I continue to listen to Suite Judy Blue Eyes, another line popped out at me....

"Don't let the past remind us of what we are not now."

I did catch your Carry On comment. Cute and appropriate.

I will be 64 in a couple of weeks. I always think of Jackson Browns "These Days."

Listen to the lyrics of that one. "Do not remind me of my failures for I have not forgotten them." Then think to yourself that he wrote that song when he was 16!

feelin' it myself Eddie..

I have made this declaration to myself and it may in some way be of help to you..

"I have promised myself to push forward into whatever light shinning up ahead with all the wisdom and happiness that I have experienced and collected along my path.."

Hell be damned I'll "Keep Smiling."

You're still young so stop being a downer and get out do the things in life you've either always wanted to do or just recently wanted to start doing. Don't wait until you're 80 and say to yourself "if only I was 65 I would do this." I'm turning 45 this year and I was talking to my father and was bitching about some things dealing with my age. He got pissed and told me he would do anything to be my age again. Someone out there is wishing they could be as young as you and still have the opportunities you have. Cheers!
