Tough to argue with these numbers:

Maroth has struggled against the Twins, going 3-9 with a 4.73 ERA in 17 appearances. He's won only once in his last 10 starts against them.

Santana has been very good versus the Tigers, going 10-2 with a 2.58 ERA. He's never given up more than three runs against them in 21 career appearances, including 15 starts.


Santana is 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA in two starts on the road, allowing two runs - one earned - and five hits in 14 innings. He's 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA lifetime at Detroit.

Minnesota has won eight of 10 against the Tigers and four straight in Detroit after losing its previous eight games there. A win
