Hofstra +11

St John's is 19-1 in this series with their only loss coming last year 86-80 at Nassau Coliseum. The Red Storm are a perfect 8-0 at home vs Hofstra and would probably like to avenge last year's loss to their local rival.

So why do I like Hofstra and the points here?

This is one of those match-ups like Cincy-Xavier Friday night where the good local team (Hofstra) cares more about this game than the more nationally team (St John's).

St John's played two other local rivals in the last three games: they got by Fordham by nine 76-67 but lost to Manhattan 68-85. IMO this is case of the Red Storm gearing up for the Oregon States and Tennessees on their schedule but relaxing a little bit against the local teams.

The difference in Sunday's game vs most of the others in the last 20 years of this series is that Hofstra has a pretty good team this year. They've already defeated preseason favorites of three conferences with wins over Kent State, Illinois State and Iona all at neutral sites. Freshman Kenny Adeleke is doing it all, he leads Hofstra in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. His .663 FG percentage ranks him #7 in the nation.

I know Raymond likes these stats: Hofstra is 19-1 over the last two seasons in games played during the daytime, with the only loss coming to UCLA in the NCAAs last year.

I look for this game to come down to the final shot.

Take the points.
