Georiga Tech -3 over Florida State.....just a quick word on the line.....i made this bet early this morning when it was 3.5 and bought the hook off.....some sort of site problems and i was unable to get onto this website for the last several hours.....checking lines now I see its as high as 4.5....still liking the Jackets even at that number to get a big win in the ACC opener. Game tips at 5:30. Here's why:

FSU has been a solid road dog (7-3) and a good play against teams with winning records (11-4), but the Jackets have some excellent numbers at home as well, going 18--7 ATS in their last 25 at home and 11-5 ATS in ACC home games the last two seasons. FSU, meanwhile, has only won SU five times on the road in ACC in the same time frame and are one game below .500 ATS both as a road dog in the ACC and in true road contests overall in that same timeline. Throw in the fact that the Jackets have covered three in a row in this series and the technical edges are slighty in favor of GT.

Beyond the technical mumbo-jumbo, there are other factors that give GT the edge. Both teams come in with pretty good offenses and a quick look at the numbers show FSU has a superior defense. When looking deeper, you'll find that GT has played a harder slate in terms of quality offenses. One-third of their foes this year, rank in the top 20 in points scored, FG% and 3-pt% whereas FSU has not really played those types of offenses. GT has seen good offenses already; FSU has not. Actually, FSU played one top shelf offense this year against Providence last weekend and the Friars scored at will.

GT has been doing two a days during the entire holiday break and the coaching staff is excited about the defensive improvement seen during those sessions. Even before then, GT had held their last 4 foes to 61 ppg, with Kansas, as a team included into that mix.

FSU, meanwhile, will be facing some personnel issues. They'll go to post today without the services of Solomon Alabi and Julian Vaughn, a pair of freshmen. These guys represent more than 1/2 of FSU bench production and combined for 30 minutes a game. Does not seem like much, but they really help anchor FSU interior defense. This will be the first game without them and I think they're going to miss them against GT. While the Jackets leading scorers come from the perimeter, they rotate four pretty big and brawny guys along the front line who pour in more than 35 points combined. Without FSU twin towers coming off the bench, look for the Jackets to take advantage of this as the game goes on and pull away late in the second half.

Good luck!!!!
