what a great day for ncaa hoops - a dizzying array of great matchups with lots at stake. let's get going.

ole miss -2: in this game, and the mo/kan game, i feel like the poker player holding a kings over boat calling an opponent that i believe is holding aces over - it may hurt, but i sure as hell got to do it. ole miss at the tad pad, what's left to say? 12-1 this year, 90 (that's right) of the last 99. 16-5 over ranked opponents, including the last seven straight over the past two seasons. winners over alabama last four in oxford. coach rod barnes' teams 3-0 over bama with 18.7 pt average margin of victory. also ole miss today goes for 20 wins, an ncaa bid and first round bye in the sec tournamnet. i call.

big mo +6: mo has knocked of ranked kansas teams six straight years and 11 times since 1989. in nine of those wins, kansas was ranked in the top ten. win here also takes the tigers off the ncaa bubble and spoils jayhawks opportunity for first perfect conference season in over thirty years. btw, big mo the last team to go undefeated in conference play, around ten or eleven years ago i think. i call again

salivating waiting for the line on the furman/davidson sou conf championship. back later with that one.

davidson -3-: i suspected the man would have a modest number here in the tournament setting, and i'll be hitting the wildcats hard. furman has played inspired ball in the tournamnet thus far, but their win over c of c mainly a result of fatigue on the part of charleston. with friday's ot game, chas starters had played around 70 minutes over the two previous days while furman had a relatively easy go of it. tired legs showed as c of c shot 29% from the floor despite having a lot of open looks. win was a very emotional one for furman as they had never beaten chas since they joined the so con - nine straight losses. no such luck for the paladins in store today. no team has every won the so con tourney by winning four straight, and if you scour the country you can probably count on the fingers on one hand the teams that have pulled off that feat. davidson the fresher team with the bye, and has been rolling this weekend, outrebounding their opponents 85-61 and allowing a mere 35% from the floor on d. sr f emeka erege has returned to the wildcats for the tournament after being out for two months and has played like a man under the basket. furman has had their best tournament in years pulling out three sqeakers but it just don't play out for them today. btw, only team with a longer run over furman than chas is davidson, winners of last 10 by average dd margin. i consider this a strong play.

loy-chi -3: horizon not one of the conferences i closely follow but my raw numbers make this line between -7 and -10. also hard to imagine the phoenix won't be ripe for a little letdown afer huge upset of butler yesterday and the way loy manhandled wright st makes this small number worth playing imo.

new orleans +1: i know i'm not impartial as he is a homeboy and college classmate of mine, but imo the best job of coaching in the ncaa this year has been done by monte towe. the privateers started this with three players being booted off the team and another quitting, along with a raft of injuries. things got so bad that monte drafted the equipment manager as a backup guard as the team limped off to a 5-11 start. since then, new orleans has won 10 of 12 and the last six in a row to put themselves in good position to secure an nit bid. the run started with a hard fought one-point win over ark-lr in a physical game where tempers flared. towe left the court refusing to shake hands with the lr coach and the two traded insults in the press for days afterward. i think this one's personal and the privateers should be ready with their best in this spot.

Hey Loop hole, I seen Monte Towe play high school ball at Oak Hill in Indiana . He was a senior when I was a freshman at Mississinewa, the two schools were county rivals. He was tough as hell. Good Luck I'm on New Orleans as well. Good Luck!

davidson -4 2nd half: i still believe in the wildcats. if my capping theory holds up, fresher team should prevail in the end.

Congrats on the wins, but very bad decision making, sir.

Bet based on your belief that the plays are sound, not because you have " a few extra bucks" sitting around.

I know you said "smaller" plays, and I know you cashed out, but I can't help but wonder how hard you would be kicking your ass, had you lost on plays that you yourself deemed "undisciplined"?

Keep pickin' winners, though!

yyz, you're absolutely right, but don't get me wrong, all three of those games were barely over the criteria for qualifying in my system. i've been on a run for a little over three weeks and i'm pretty aggressive in pressing units when i'm feeling good with my capping and my bankroll is growing. one way i press up is to increase units on what i perceive as the most solid plays. another is to play those games that barely made the cut that i might not play if things weren't working for me. as soon as the run ends i'll pull back a bit. i know that strategy is a little aggressive and not for all, and i only use it in college football and hoops which i feel are my strong suits. but it's a beautiful thing when it comes together - my man is not a happy camper right now. thanks yyz, your advice is sound and always appreciated.
