The 13-23 Astros would be high on any list of teams that
have been a disappointment in 2005. They've fallen into
dead last in the less than overpowering NL Central, and
they'll be hard pressed to escape this four game series
with a split. Jeff Fassero was forced into starting duty
earlier in the week, and the result was five scoreless innings
vs. the Pirates.Now he goes against a Houston team that is
only 2-10 (-$955) vs. lefthanders, averaging a pathetic 2.3 runs
per game in those contests. The Giants have fought their way
back to .500 and should be able to handle Brandon Backe
(6.05 ERA), having averaged nearly six runs per game vs.
righties on the road thus far.
