HIGHLANDERS vs CATS

The Cats start minus their prop Willie Meyer who has recieved a one match ban for his sending off against the Brumbies. The Highlanders are given a real boost with the return to fitness of former All Black skipper Taine Randell who is expected to start.
The Cats were simply dreadful in missing countless tackles on their way to a 60 point hammering by the Brumbies last week. This came after a encouraging start in winning away at The Bulls. The Highlanders blew away the Sharks at home last week with a five try romp, after going down to a narrow loss in Round One at the Crusaders.

There is absolutely no doubt that the Highlanders are going to win this one. The question is..by how many?? The Cats real hope is that Gcobani Bobo can create some magic behind the scrum, while the forwards will have to match that of the Highlanders whose pack was so impressive against the Sharks last week. Their pack is even more impressive this game with the return of the influential number 8/flanker Taine Randall. An added bonus for the Highlanders is that their coach Laurie Mains knows a thing or to about the Cats, as he was the man who coached them all the way to the semis last year. However, since that cracking campaign the Cats have lost all of their main players. With the handicap offering the Cats over a twenty start, it outlines just what a massive task they face here in Round 3.

1 POINT WIN-HIGHLANDERS (-23) at 5/6 with CORALEUROBET ;)

ACT BRUMBIES vs CATS

The Cats are hit with major injuries for their visit to Canberra. The worst of these is to giant skipper Mark Andrews who has sustained a shoulder injury in training and misses the trip. They also have injuries to no less than five more players. The Brumbies lose full back Andrew Walker to ligament damage, and switch Mark Bartholomeusz to full back with Damien McInally coming in on the wing.
The Brumbies start Super 12 in style with succesive home wins against potentially tough opposition. However the Cats have struggled, and were beaten heavily away at the Highlanders last week.

Again a dead cert Brumbies victory. Their form this season has been simply awesome, and they are impossible to oppose. The injuries sustained by the Cats means they face a daunting task in Canberra, and are up against possibly the best team in Super 12. Not much more to say, but lump on a Brumbies victory conceding over twenty points!!

2 POINTS WIN-ACT BRUMBIES (-22) at 5/6 with CORALEUROBET ;)

STORMERS vs HURRICANES

STORMERS vs HURRICANES

The Hurricanes travel to South Africa with no injury worries. Fit again Werner Greeff replaces Marius Goosen for the Stormers.
The Stormers were just edged out by a good Waratahs team last week at home, after winning on the road in Round One. Comeback of the season already for the Hurricanes who reversed a 60 point drubbing at home by the Blues in Round one, to beat the Bulls on the road last week. All be it a poor Bulls outfit.

A tight encounter this one, and I find it very difficult to call. In my opinion, despite the wealth of talent in the Hurricanes backs, it will be how their pack do against the Stormers that will prove vital. If the Hurricanes are firing on all cylinders then they will win here, but you cannot trust that they will be. If they are just slightly off their game then the talent in the Stormers team can shine through. Although I lean towards the Hurricanes with an eight point start, I cannot trust them enough to warrant a play.

NO PLAY :nono:

RECAP OF SEASON :

+3.31 POINTS (?331 calculated to a ?100 unit stake)

I have just seen some new lines. They are -23 Highlanders, and -22 Brumbies which are even better!! I will be adjusting my picks to these lines, both available at 5/6 with Coral Eurobet.

First bets of the season for me on Super 12 - been waiting for a bit of form before getting involved (good job given Week 1 results:confused: )

Briefly, plays are 2pts Highlanders (-24) Surrey Sports 5/6 (Crooky, Coral price is 24 not 23 so this is best option I can find in UK). Main worry is weather being bad + keeping points totals down, any news from that side of the World???

No bet Brumbies-Sharks, would probably agree + take the -22 if forced, but be surprised if it's much more.

Main bet, 4pts Stormers -5 @10/11 Bet365, I had this one handicapped @ -9 so got to play. There is -4 available at 5/6 with Coral, but I'll be greedy + take my chance with the better price:D :D Home advantage should take care of the spread + my figures have Stormers better anyway. Purely from a form point of view, simplistic know, two tight games against the Waratahs and Sharks, is different gravy to beating the Bulls + a home drubbing to the Blues.

Anyway, Best of luck to all + hope last weeks results on here can be repeated ;)

apologies originally posted Surrey price as 10/11, it's not it is also 5/6 :( Still a bet though!!

Hoss,

Do you actually back your own picks?? If so you might be about to find out that Surrey do not accept singles, except on live Sky games.

Crooky, actually posted before I had my bet - when I got there I found the 5/6 so came back to correct error (hopefully before anyone spotted it, but obviously not). As it happens I, the most I was offered, even on the double was ?20!, Coral then offered max ?30 single!! If you do make this game pay, as you apparently do ;) , you will no doubt understand the difficulties that proven winners face at this time of night on the Internet. I have got on elsewhere to the stakes I require, but I think it's probably OK to post my views using the general best market price. Finding winners is hard enough!

Cheers
Hoss

PS I can't believe that Surrey, who are a good firm, even if I can't get much on, are only offering doubles + 5/6 each of two!!

PPS It's past your bedtime!:thefinger

As for ACT and the Highlanders, one of these two shouldn't cover and thats the I will be playing it. Laying over 20 points in a S12 match is suicide, although your record is great so far crookycymru.

Hoss,

I was only allowed to place a maximum of ?20 on the Brumbies last week, but managed to get what I wanted on today.

As for your attempt to take the piss of my age, you might want to post your views in your own thread next week, as I write my picks for people to follow, not to wind up any potential readers!

Whale,

The fact that we all have differing opinions is the reason that bookmakers will always continue to make profit!

All going nicely on here so far, well done Crooky (don't be so sensitive!), need Stormers for v.tidy pick up now

Just one more to add this weekend 4pts Waratahs (-8) 10/11 Paddy Power - off to watch Hull v Leeds Super League now ! (Leeds -2 is the call!!)

PS Crooky which firm restricted you? - I ask 'cos after last nights experience going to have to be a bit quicker off marks + get on in cash if best price is going to be restricted :( :(

Firms that price up Super12 in UK (Sporting Odds, Coral, VC, Stan James, Bet Direct, Bet365, Paddy Power, Blue Sq, and Surrey)
Does anyone know of any more??

I attempted to place a large wager on the Brumbies last week with Coral Eurobet, but was only allowed a ?20 single. It is hard to understand why they lay prices, only to refuse bets of over a hundred pounds.

I took the Brumbies last night with the same firm, with again a large stake. The bet was referred to their traders, who took 5 minutes to eventually allow me to complete the bet. They also laid my Highlanders bet! It will be interesting to see if they are prepared to lay me tonight or when I bet Super 12 with them next!

CRUSADERS vs BLUES

Crusaders are at full strength and have the luxury of welcoming back Leon MacDonald, and Chris Jack from injury. The Blues main concerns are halfback Mark Robinson, and flanker Matua Parkinson. They have also picked up a few knocks in training, which leaves further players doubtful for the match.
The Mehrtens inspired Crusaders sit in third position with two victories under their belt. The Blues stormed into Super 12 with a sixty point thrashing of the Hurricanes in Round One, but were beaten in Queensland last week although leading 14-0!

The bookies give the Blues up to a six point start for their visit to Christchurch. The game is sure to be fiercely competitive with many players vying for All Black selction. The mercurial Mehrtens goes up against Carlos Spencer, while Scott Robertson faces Ron Cribb at the back of the scrum. Expect the battle to be won in these vital positions (fly-half, scrum-half, and eight). Whoever comes out on top in these positions will win the game. A lean towards Crusaders conceding four points, but the Blues could cause an upset.

So far 2/2 from the Hoss! :D  :D

Apologies if anyone backed Leeds in Super League, they were totally crap! Hopefully you all steered clear, sadly I didn't:mad:

Crooky, bit of a tip for Eurobet, their .com and .co.uk are traded as two seperate entities so register for both + bet your max on each! :) Their restrictions are poor tho' so shops are probably best. ;)

REDS vs CHIEFS

The Reds have no injury concerns ahead of the game. The Chiefs are still hopeful that Deon Muir can play, while ex All Black Royce Willis returns to the squad.
The Reds were mightily impressive in defeating the Blues last week, whilst they went down fighting against the Brumbies in Round One. The Chiefs will look to Deon Muir for inspiration after two opening Super 12 defeats.

Very confident that the Reds will win here. I think they will be one of the main contenders for Super 12 this year, and proved they can match it with the best in their opening defeat by the Brumbies. However the Chiefs are no mugs, and will go down fighting. I believe the handicap of around fifteen points start for the Chiefs is about right.

BULLS vs NSW WARATAHS

The Bulls main absentee is hooker James Dalton who is doubtful due to personal reasons. Otheriwse they are more or less at full strength. Queensland lock Van Humphries makes his debut for the Reds, while Duncan McRae retains his place ahead of Manuel Edomonds.
The Bulls look the worst Super 12 team so far, having lost both opening games at home, without really troubling the opposition. The Waratahs open with two impressive wins including a last gasp victory over the Stormers last week.

The Waratahs possess leathal players in Nathan Grey and the world class Matt Burke. Having won away from home in their last two games, they look set to make it three here against an extremely poor Bulls outfit. The start of less than ten points offered to the Bulls makes this an attractive play on the Aussies.

1 POINT WIN-WARATAHS (-8) with PADDYPOWER at 4/5 ;)
