Well its actually the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Basically says that starting in April, teams will have to have players sign a waiver to allow the team to release injury information on them. No more injury reports for football without express permission. No more for any sports.

Very good articles on this recently in the NYT and other papers.

Imagine betting on a football game and having no idea who is injured and who isnt!

PHIL IS IT THE SPECIFIC INJURY THAT CANT BE RELEASED OR THE FACT A PLAYER IS INJURED?? IN OTHER WORDS, IN FOOTBALL FOR EXAMPLE YOU WILL SEE A PLAYERS (OWENS) NAME ..(DOUBTFUL) STATUS...THEN SPECIFICALLY (LEG) OR SOMETHING OF THAT NATURE...IS IT THE SPECIFICITY THAT NEEDS TO BE WAIVED OR THE GENERAL STATUS OF THE PLAYER???...THANKS..COOZ

I'm involved in the insurance industry, and as such, is pretty familiar with HIPAA and what it means to the insurance industry... but I don't know how it apply's to football teams.....is this the privacy angle in the act?
