Like Pitt-1.5 over Kent. I got the line yest at pick'im because I knew it would go up.
Gd play is about even with Page and Knight vs Huffaman and Mitchell.Both play solid defense but maybe a slight edge to Pitt even though Knight can't shoot FT's.I think the front court is where Pitt gets a bigger edge.Brown,Troutman,Zavakas,Lett,Morris, and Johnson are bigger and stronger inside the paint and from the perimeter.Shaw and gates are smaller type fowards and don't have the physical tools to stay with these guys.Gerwig the center is big but just a role player avg 5 pts and 3 bds a game.
Pitt has much more depth and plays 8 or 9 guys.kent gets very little production from the bench.Maybe 5 or 6 pts a game.Pitt gets about 14 to 15 pts a game.
Both teams really don't fast break a lot so it will be a half court game.I think the Pitt frontline should win the battle of the bds and win a close game going right down to the wire.Kent has shown it can beat "greyhound" teams like Bama that are quicker and more physical.But Pitt plays defense equal to Kents.And I think Pitt's offense is just a little better.
OU -3 over Zona
Really like OU in this one.Gds are about even.Everyone is a greyhound.They both can shoot.Walton is such an offensive force with his passing and rebounding.Zona frontline is talented but younger.I see no one stopping 6'8 McGhee on the low post.With an outstanding shooting team with Price,Ere and Dietrick it will be tough to double up on McGhee esp. when Sampson rolls him over to Prices side.Gardner is a stud and the zona offense is almost as explosive as OU's.
But I think the low post is Zona problem tonite trying to stop the 260 pound agile lefty in the paint.
UCLA -1 over Mizzou.
Hardest game to capp.Mizzou with Rush,Gilbert,Paulding,Stokes,and Johnson can score.From everywhere.Inside the paint,the elbow,beyound the arc and even in row 3.
But UCLA has 8 or 9 guys that can score from all the above except kapano can hit them from row 6.
Again the inside game of UCLA gives them the slight edge for me.Gadzuric is a force inside and could really give the smaller Johnson problems.Knight,Thompson,Bozeman,Cummings,and Barnes are all athletic and can score.
UCLA and Lavin scare the hell out of me.They have the talent and players to go to the final 4.Do they have the coach to take them there.I'll gamble the 1 pt that he can take them to one more win.
Duke -13 over Indiana
Just think Duke will stay close with them and lead by 8 or 9 pts most of the game.Then with about 10 minuts left they open it up for a 15-20 pt win.
