Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Grace Park to win 14/1 e.w. @ Boyle Sports
After five consecutive top-3 finishes in September-November last year, this has hardly been the expected 2005 performances from Park, partly because of back problems. But they have supposedly gone now and apart from last week when she played poorly for three rounds, but shot of the low rounds of the day on Sunday, she has at least finished no lower than 12th in her last three events. And in such an open event and with course form that 3rd and 2nd in her two visits, this should be her best finish of 2005 so far.

Candie Kung to win 20/1 e.w. @ Ladbrokes and Boyle Sports
While Annika was lapping the field last week, Kung jumped six places to finish 2nd after a final round 65. There was no pressure, of course, with the title already decided, but was a good indication of a return to her earlier season form that had netted two top-10 finishes in March. So with top-10 finishes in this event from three starts, she should certainly feature on the leaderboard again this week.

Rachel Hetherington to win 33/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler and Boyle Sports
Hetherington has finished in the top-20 in six of seven starts in this event and the only failing was back in 2000 when the event was weather-shortened. That is very good course form, which when allied to a victory in this State in 2003 (Wegmans Rochester LPGA) should point to a good performance this week and that is backed up by her recent form which has been under the radar. This month she has finished 6th, 19th and 20th, but these have been the product of final round scores of 67, 68 and 67. If she can get/keep himself in contention earlier in the event this week, her odds may tumble in future weeks.

Matchup plays (1.5pts):

Paula Creamer to beat Heather Bowie -105 @ Centrebet and SuperOdds
Everyone else makes Creamer the clear favourite in this match except Centrebet/Superodds. Yes, she did miss the cut last week, but she had been 2nd favourite for the Corona Morelia Championship only four weeks ago and she has finished ahead of Bowie in four of their last five common events. No course form, as usual, but with Bowie posting finishes of 67th and mc in her last two visits, it is not a problem in this match.
(also available at Five Dimes and NordicBet)

Silvia Cavalleri to beat Karine Icher -102 @ Five Dimes
Icher finished ahead of Cavalleri in their sole common event in 2005 - the Corona Morelia Championship - when she finished 2nd. But looking further back to 2003 and including the Ladies European Tour, Cavalleri has a 7-3-3 h2h record in her favour. With Icher finished 69th the following week - her last start which was three weeks ago - and having never played at Wykagyl, the favouritism should be with Cavalleri who has finished 12th and 4th in the last two weeks and has five years of experience at Wykagyl which includes three top-20 finishes.

Beth Daniel to beat Meg Mallon -102 @ Five Dimes
Surprising choice of favourite in this match as well. Mallon may have been the far better player in 2004, but in five common events in 2005, she has yet to finish ahead of Daniel. With Daniel's worst finish this season has been 26th, that position has been Mallon's BEST finish of 2005. And it is not that Daniel's course form is poor either. She won this title in 1994 and has finished outside the top-30 only twice in fourteen visits.

4th rd
Hee Wan Han -120 over Soo Yun Kang

Similiar to yesterdays reasonings--until yesterdays rd Han had been 8-0 vs Kang in all cold weather rds this year--a little additional perk she has yet to beat Han in final rd in any weather in 05.

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -4.50pts

Park 13th
Kung 15th
Hetherington 28th

This really could have been Park's event to control. She opened with a 77, but got herself into the top-10 with what was promising to be one of the rounds of the season when 6-under-par after 12 holes in very difficult conditions in the 2nd round, only to then take a triple-bogey on the next hole. Even then, she was still within five shots of the lead for much of the last two rounds. She could certainly win again soon.

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 1-2-0; +1.47pts

Creamer/Bowie WON by 3
Cavalleri/Icher WON by 9
Daniel/Mallon LOST by 8

The LPGA matchups again (partially) saved the event. Creamer won the event and needed such a performance to beat Bowie who also finished in the top-five, while it was the match that I fancied the most that was the loser.
