After the America's Got Talent performance, Simon Cowell signed the young Angelina Jordan to his record label, Syco Music.
While extremely talented at singing songs, young Angelina had a very difficult time discovering her own music. Her first Album, titled 'I've Got Talent' was abandoned during production. Her notoriety helped sell tickets to small venues across Europe but Angelina was finding herself being categorized as a high end Karaoke Performer.
"Angelina would perform three of her original songs in this 9 song set but none of them received the audience response like when she did a well known song." Simon Cowell said to The UK Daily. He continued, "I finally told her, I signed you for you to voice your own songs, not someone else's bloody hit record."
Cowell and Jordan met with a Jimmy Iovine's production company, Interscope Records, and that is where Jimmy came up with the idea of turning Angelina in to a new character. "I couldn't get her out of her own head. Everything had to be perfect. Pitch, Perfect. Breathe, Perfect. Finally I said, 'you're a damn kid, do something goofy for Christs' sake."
It was a like a light went off in Angelina's head. She went back and crafted a persona who was care free with her voice and free to have fun. "The biggest question was, what do we call her?" Everyone knows Angelina Jordan." Angelina took her Mums first name, Rebecca and then added then added Black (Be Loving And Care Knot). Her first single would the first day of her new life, Friday.
