Ok, three weeks have come and gone, now time to get serious about the "funny lines" or as I like to call them "sucker bets" I have been pretty successful with this approach in years past. Many, Many moons ago9 posted a 27-5 record incl SB, but that was back when SF played SD Lat year had soe good results but failed to record or put any weight in them. So going at it officially this year and I hope they give everyone out there some help, if not then just ignore my posts. I pick three to four games a week that I think have some odd lines and here they are:
4* Philly +3.0
No way can you tell me a team that is 2-1 and has been impressing the public is only 3 pt fav's against a team that is 0-2 and has everyone talking about how poor McNabb and comp have been performing this year. I thought this line would be at least 6, so something is up.
3* STL -10.5
Given the extremely poor record of DD fav's so far this year with outright upsets by Hou in week 1, Car in week 2 and almost a Cincy upset as well. and although not a DD fav Az sure surprised people with a win against GB last week. How can we find Stl a DD fav against an Az team that just beat GB while sahring the same record. Somethings up
2* Oak -7.0
Oakland has looked pathetci this year, and although they have won one more game than the Chargers, it came against lowly Cin and was a tigt one at home to boot. SD has lost to KC, Den, and Balt, teams with a combined record of 8-1. Oak should not being giving any more than 4 in this one, so somethings up here.
1* Jax -3.0
Just think something is strange when a team that is 0-3 goes to visit a team that is 1-2 and is giving them pts. Jax will also be without its starting QB and the line hasn't moved. Hou beat Mia in Mia, and then lost to NO and KC, both respectable teams. Somethings up here as well.
Opinion:
When I first saw KC only giving 3 to Balt I immediately tought sucker bet, but being a KC fan I did a little research and found that the SB Rams team a few years ago was also undervalued in the beginning and they were also favored by 3.5 in wk 4. The Stl team rolled off 6 straight wins and covers during that time, and given that Balt might sill be getting a little attention from their Super Bowl aura I can sort of understand why the line is so low. It has gone up since opening and many cappers are on the Balt bandwagon this week as well, just as they were on Hou last week to topple the Chiefs. Until KC loses I will notgo against them. On a recent sports show many members of the 72 undefeated Dolphins team said they had been watching the Chiefs and they had not been this concerned about a team going undefeated since Bronco's went 12-0 a few years back.
Hope this helps all out there
