The Boston Red Sox go for their fifth straight win tonight when then open a two game set against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The Over is 14-5-1 in the past 20 meetings and we expect that trend to continue tonight.

The Red Sox beat Toronto Saturday and Sunday before outscoring the Tigers 21-12 in their two-game sweep. Boston are a dominant 32-14 at Fenway Park this season and their overall record of 59-40 (.596) places them second in the AL East, 2 1/2 games back from the New York Yankees. Following last night's game Detroit manager Jim Trammel said that he hasn't seen a better team all season and the Red Sox lead the majors with a .295 batting average. They have had at least 10 hits in 61 of their 99 games.

Tim Wakefield gets the call tonight and he is winless in his last five starts including back-to-back losses. Overall this season he is 6-5 with a 4.16 ERA and since Boston are just 8-12 when he starts anyone considering laying the heavy juice tonight or playing the runs-line may want to be a little cautious. In 17 career appearances against the D Rays he is 6-1 with a 2.83 ERA.

The Devil Rays are just 35-63 (.357) overall including a dismal 13-32 on the road.

Taking the mound for Tampa Bay tonight is Jeremi Gonzalez who returned to the majors this season after four injury-stricken years. He is 4-4 with a 3.67 ERA and is coming off his best start of the season when he allowed just five hits over eight innings against the Texas Rangers. He struck out six, walked one and didn't allow an earned run. But we don't mind 'opposing' mediocre pitchers off of one excellent outing, especially when their next appearance is on the road. Gonzalez faced the Red Sox on July 3 at Tropicana Field and allowed four runs on four hits over five innings of work.

The Red Sox have scored 30 runs in their last three games and with any kind of contribution from the Devil Rays tonight we expect this one to go Over.
