Surprised to see quite a few have priced up this event. Amazingly, given the weaknes of the field, McNulty isn't favourite. That just shows how cautious layers are about Martin Maritz (DTB, you could pile into the 10's here and double it with Miguel!)

Despite the temptation to side with Brad Vaughan again, Darren Fichardt is good enough to win in this field, a solid effort here last year, 20/1.

For an outsider, Justin Hobday appeals at 66 with Paddy Power...he's done well in minor events on Sunshine Tour.

Prices that are already in the ether! Alan McLean 40/1 has gone
Nic Henning 66/1 too, now 40

Has to be Bradford Vaughan.... although he has missed 7 of his last 8 cuts (main tours)... Clive losing patience is good enough for me.... 33/1 Surrey. :D

His missed cuts have been in better class events than this and now the weight of Clive's money is lifted from his shoulders he could return to the form that brought him finishes of 4th, 4th, 7th & 4th from his first 5 South African outings last season.

Is anyone else having problems with Surrey? Last night and again just now I am unable to place a bet.... just get the dreaded "error on page"

Brad is also 33/1 at Betsmart...

Clive,
you'll find each of those numbers still down here at Tattsbet (ew 1/4 1-4). Still working on stretching that to fifth place...

Might have a flutter on Kamps myself. Anyone know why Surrey have S.Browne at 40/1 compared to 125/1 at Centrebet considering his shocking form?? Very nice that the Sunshine Tour site includes qualifying data....

Slipped over to SB and got me a little Clive. Blessing maybe that they wouldn't send check to close account now!

Bet your chompin for the skirts to get in on :)

Mid-point update

Mid-point update

Maritz 42nd
McLardy 5th
Gammon 2nd

Maritz may be feeling the repercussions of last week's high-profile event. A long way to go, but would have gladly taken this position at the start of the tournament ;)

Nice to see you go 2/1 Chris Wiliams - BP is 4/7 Hills and Stan James go 4/9 - I take it you have not seen a penny for him!

Bradford Vaughan didn't set the world alight but without the pressure of Clive's money he did turn in one his better recent performances, the 'rehabilitation' is obviously going to take a while.... hoping for much better things of Scott McCarron, the first time Ian deserts him :D

Final Update

Final Update

Outrights: 1-2; -0.36 units

Maritz 9th
McLardy 5th
Gammon 33rd

In the end, I'm thankful that McLardy birdied six of the last eight holes to get a share of 5th place. Gammon failed to record a single birdie today and plummeted out of contention, while Maritz continually got himself into contention but failed to finish the job: 10-under-par for the 1st nine and just 1-under-par for the back nine this week tells the story. Maritz finished one shot out of the top-5.
