Tournament Record:
straight 12 - 4 (+15.5 units)
moneyline 2 - 2 (+2.5 units)
NIT 1 - 0 (+2.5 units)
Temple -2 (2 units)
Unfortunately with this pick, there are two bad scenerios that need to be acknowledged
1. They are playing in Rhode Island
2. They are trying to beat RI for the 3rd time this year, which is difficult for any team
With that said, I am still taking Temple based on a few reasons
1. Temple is one of the hottest teams in the nation right now. After starting the season 3 - 11, they are currently 14 - 4 in their last 18 games. On offense, the insertion of Brian Polk into the starting five due to an ankle injury to former freshman starter Antywane Robinson (who returned to the court for last week's A-10 tourney) has given the Owls four legit perimeter threats on the floor at the same time -- Polk, David Hawkins, Maurice Collins and Alex Wesby.
2. RI does not shoot the 3 ball very well only 30% on season, which plays into Temples zone.
3. Temple has won 18 of 22 meetings in Rhode Island. The Owls have won seven straight games against Rhode Island and lead the all-time series, 44-11.
