Tennessee Linebacker May Miss Season
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) ? Tennessee linebacker Kevin Burnett likely will miss the rest of the season after tearing a ligament in his left knee against Wyoming.
Coach Phillip Fulmer said Sunday that a precise diagnosis had not been made, but team doctors suspected a torn ACL. An MRI was scheduled for Monday, and Fulmer said Burnett could have surgery within three weeks.
``That's another tough loss to our football team,'' Fulmer said.
The Volunteers lost another defensive starter two weeks ago when senior end Constantin Ritzmann tore the ACL in his left knee.
Burnett was injured while trying to tackle Wyoming quarterback Casey Bramlet during the Vols' season-opening 47-7 victory Saturday.
