anders or alb,

any ideas about any decent longshot futures wagers for the french open? I was just looking and there are only 5 players under 50-1... because of the fed-rafa final that will most likely happen. Any value out there? There's a bunch of goons out there in the 300-1/500-1 range... and there's stepanek bringing up the rear at 700-1. Thanks

Personally, I can't see past another Fed/Nads final. I will probably bet the Fed over 2/1....can always hedge during the final against Nadal. The best chance this year at beating Nadal on clay this year (not including The Fed) has been Nieminen in Barcelona. In fact, Nadal was actually around 2/1 odds at one stage in the match.

If I had to chose a darkhorse, I can see Almagro. He has that win in Valencia and played well against Nadal in Barcelona.....then he pushed The Fed to the limit in recent Rome. Definitely a consideration.

The other dude that tempts me even more is the fast rising Acasuso. Great player and gaining respect with each match. If you are going to bet him, do it before he wins this Hamburg tournament as that will surely drop his odds 10 points.

Almagro beat Acasuso 6-4 2-6 6-4 in Rome last week.

Side note; Currently 'the big 2' to win is trading @ about -450.

To clarify...The Fed or Nads to win the French Open is around -450.

Well don't I put my official seal of death on Acasuso... He probably went from 50/1 to 100/1 for the Frog open now.

Anyway, Stepanek rattled him and deserved the W.....I'm actually going to root for this boring guy to beat Robredo. Funny how excellent mind game players like Stepanek get crushed by basic skills of mentally strong dudes like The Fed and Nads. I think that is the definable differences between Fed/Nads and 'all' challengers. Think about it; I.E. Nadal is far from the best 'executioner' in terms of clinic tennis......and he is probably a coaches headache.....but he kicks ass in a whatever-it-takes way and never show any mental weakness.
