I was thinking of placing a wager on Andy Roddick to win the French Open at +3300. I am a casual tennis follower. I don't think Roddick has won a grand slam yet and think maybe he can catch his first title at the French. The +3300 kinda of caught my eye and seems very appealing, but why is it so much. Is Roddick terrible on clay, is this a sucker bet????

I mean I'm not going to load up here, but was just wondering if I'm wasting 25 or 50 bucks making this wager???

Thanks...

no chance in hell of roddick winning the french open this year.
juan carlos ferrero will likely win. maybe moya if someone knocks out ferrero. JCF owns Moya.

need I remind you guys about men's tennis.......take a look at all the grand slam champions in the past 10 years......

do the names Richard Krajicek (96 Wimbledon), Petr Korda (98 Aussy), Goran Ivanicevic (01 Wimbledon), and Thomas Johansson (02 Aussy) mean anything to ya

and when Kuerten won his first French he was ranked 67th.......this is men's tennis.....anyone can beat anyone...

think picking Roddick is a great bet..........best odds I see out there for him are at $41.00

other good longshot values (in my opinion):

Guillermo Coria $31.00
Roger Federer $29.00
Alex Corretja $34.00
Younes El Aynaoui $67.00
Agustin Calleri $69.00
Nicholas Lapentti $151.00
Pete Sampras $201.00 (if he plays)
Luis Horna $201.00   (odds way outta wack) OLympic Yevgeny Kafelnikov $201.00  (he's won here before!!) Olympic
Nicolas Escude $201.00

Of course you will have cinderella stories in any sport......but it is all a shot in the dark. Roddick, of course he has a chance to be a cinderella story, but chances are not on clay. You have to be a special american player to win the french, and roddick, while he is talented, he is not special.

but hey......im sure kick knows more than me:)

i just saw that alex corretja lost..
fuqk this piece of shit.
lost 2200 on corretja. dupuis is horrible on clay.
thought that mf'r corretja could at least win his first round match
at home. SOB. sportpunter had it 82 percent win chance so i bet it. what a way to start the week.
corretja can go to hell...jackoff.

I've been tracking Sportpunter for the last few months and they've been flat out horrible. So many 65-80% "chances" have lost. Why in the world would you follow this garbage? You'll have much better luck watching the guys at www.tennisbetters.dk

Sportpunter and onthepunt.com are atrociously inconsistent, IMHO.

well he's not my best buddy......I just know who is his......that's all :)

infact........he wouldn't know me if he shook my hand :D

but yes...he's posted for quite some time......but as far as I know he'll keep on posting....he is very good that's for sure :p

sorry I couldn't tell ya more.........he does like to keep his identity secret, not sure why.......might have to do with the fact that he's close to the players........just not sure how close.......one thing is for sure.....he doesn't advertise who he is.....that's for sure

I could tell ya his name.....but I might be in the bottom of some lake in the morning :D :D
