RANGERS FIRST-GAME PITCHER JUSTIN DUCHSCHERER (ML DEBUT): Duchscherer, a 23-year-old right-hander from Lubbock Coronado High School, has spent the season at the Double-A level with the Boston and Ranger organizations. He is a combined 10-4 with a 2.31 ERA for 121 innings. Duchscherer, who relies on guile, has 26 walks and 129 strikeouts and an opponents' batting average of .202.
RANGERS SECOND-GAME STARTER DOUG DAVIS (5-7)
avis allowed 11 hits but only one run in eight innings during a win at Tampa Bay on Friday. Davis is 3-2 with a 3.13 ERA for his last nine starts. He has pitched at least six innings in each of those starts. In his only career appearance against Baltimore, Davis had 12/3 scoreless innings.
HATES TO FACE: Tony Batista (three home runs in 10 at-bats)
ABOUT THE RANGERS: The Rangers had six doubles in Tuesday's win and rank third in the American League for the category with 210. Minnesota led with 214 entering a night game at Oakland.

ORIOLES SECOND-GAME STARTER CALVIN MADURO (0-2):Maduro, a right-hander, makes his first major-league start since April 15, 2000. Maduro has made nine relief appearances with the Orioles this season. The highlight was 51/3 scoreless innings against the Rangers last Wednesday. Maduro, a fly-ball pitcher, has only 12 strikeouts in 24 innings. He was 2-7 at Triple-A Rochester this season.
ABOUT THE ORIOLES: Baltimore's bullpen failed again in Tuesday's loss to the Rangers. Orioles relievers have lost 12 consecutive decisions and are 4-17 in the last 21 decisions.
