Texas -17.5 over Tex St ****
Amazing these guys are 25 minutes apart on I-35 and haven't played each other in 6 years. Tex St fired its basketball coach Kasper for racial comments in the past. And after reading the things he said from all his players you know there true. I have been sitting behind him for the past 3-4 years at the games and could see his players feared him and he coached with an iron fist. Never heard any racial remarks but he had 100% control of everyone. Never talking back at him and Bobby Knight type control Then when one player transferred and remarked what he said during practices and other players didn't want to say it you knew it was true. Then word leaked and Kasper was wrong. I defended him as a coach because his defense was textbook. But he resigned and wasn't fired. And he should of been. I coached black kids for 23 years and never ever said things that he said. But my question is his asst coach Johnson who is black .. What did you say to Kasper when he is saying all these racial comments. And my feeling is if you stopped it or told Kasper you are way out of line how could you be his assistant coach.. Now maybe you did and told the athletic Dir. I don't know and I know he was your boss but the allegations came from everyone.. Maybe the AD knew and you told him or talked to Kasper about it. Don't know the details and Kasper never denied saying those things. I liked Kasper as a coach and watched his teams improve tear after year. He played at North Texas as a guard and was very successful at Steven F Austin coaching. Anyway Texas St has been trying to play Texas for years. It took a c-19 virus to play this regional game.
Meanwhile Shacka has more talent then most teams in the country. He can recruit his ass off. But is a terrible bench coach. And nothing has changed except he has even more talent this year. It was 57-57 vs Nova the other day. with under 2 minutes . Stop free lancing and run a freak'in play. One of his kids take a bad 3,then a turnover and another missed forced shot and a turnover again.. Nova scored 5 straight points and tha'ts all she wrote. But your defense has improved and you have almost everyone back including 5 star 6'9 Brown and that everyone is saying in a one year lottery pick player.
The rumors were all over that Shacka was going to be fired but his buyout and the C-19 virus saved him for another year.
The game tonite.. I capped it at -19-21 as a heavy favorite But this morning it was at -17.5 So I will jump on it

Tx st starts 3 gds Harrell at 5'8 and davis and Adams.. Harrell is a waterbug that penetrates but none of these guys are great shooters. Up front they have 2 fds Small at 6'8 and weighs about 170 pounds. If the crowd all blows together at once and the wind hits him he will fall over. He has to be the skinniest kid playing D-1 basketball He is from Newark NJ . I know he has been seen at Whatabuger in san marcus every day but still cannot gain any weight. He does have a nice jumper and likes to drive to the basket but likes the perimeter more then the paint. Sule is 6'8 also and avg 6 points abd 6 bds a game. He has a turn around jump shot maybe 5 feet from the basket. He has no moves facing the basket Always posts up vs the smaller team Tx St has played.
Bench is weak with no size at all. All gds and small fds. Their top player last yr was Pearson who was Sun Belt POY. He did everything . Played all 5 positions and could stick 3's from anywhere. Not having him means they have no real offensive scorer. Pearson started for 4 years.
Texas loaded , they have 2 gds Ramy and Coleman who are outstanding. Both love to penetrate and pass. Both can shoot and both are playing outstanding defense. There other gd Jones can shoot the eyes out of the basket. But the Texas frontline is loaded Sims is 6'10,Brown the super frosh is 6'10 Liddell,Hempa, are 6'8 and then sophmore Kai Jones is 6'11 and a big time shot blocker and is the most improved player from lasy year Texas has 100% of its scoring and rebounding back from last year. Then they have the real MVP in Brock Cunningham at 6'6 and is a coaches dream. Does everything. A great passer that reverse the ball to hit open players . in the warms ups he is practicing his loose ball slides on the floor. Greg Brown the 6'9 super frosh is the real deal. He can shoot from the outside and post up and block shots. There best shooter is Fabres who last year hit 55 3's and I',\m not sure of his status tonight,, Shacka problem is there is only one basketball. How do you keep everyone happy. And last yrs top recruit Will Baker saw the writing on the wall and transferred.
Texas has the talent to win this by 25-35 points . There is not one Tx St Bobcat that could even make this team.
But will they. If I knew the answer I would be in a condo in the Caymons on the beach drinking a beer.
Shacka's teams have been known to play according to its competition.. I don't have the names of the teams but in my head the NC centrals Radfords ,Eastern Washingtons ,UTA's etc. Texas has so much more talent and plays these guys on their levels and win but way below the point spread. This game tonight is the super bowl for Tex St
But even with that the talent difference is so one sidedAlso Texas did beat NC and Indiana and Richmond..lost to Nova But this week they open up vs Baylor in Waco.. So if there was any "look ahead game " its tonite. I am playing Shacka has learned and knows his job was on the line last year. And has his kids up for tonite game and wins this by 20. The orange paint tonite in Erwin center will be dominated by the "bigs" of Texas and think everyone on the Longhorn team knows there is so much depth you can be replaced in a second. I actually got a ticket to tonights game thru my season tickets of the Tex St ..

My buddy who teaches and coaches in Dallas coached at Fort Hayes St. Back in the day they were a NAIA power house. He was head coach for 3 years there and won 22,19 and 15. The 15 he lost his job there. I texted him this morning congratulating him on the Fort Hayes St upset of kansas St last night. He sent me their team picture of his team. There are 8 players who all are teachers one NBA player drafted 2 played in Europe and one former coach who coaches golf in Dallas and has his player playing in the masters and the US Open. That is my buddy
