Texas has seen a steady rise in novel coronavirus cases and fatalities since reopening just over two weeks ago.

There are now 45,198 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. That is an increase of 1,347 cases from Thursday to Friday. The new numbers have not yet been recorded for Saturday.

Last Friday, the daily case increase was 1,219.

CORONAVIRUS

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a health alert regarding an outbreak of a novel (new) Coronavirus in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, which began in December 2019. The CDC confirmed the first case in the United States on January 21, 2020. The respiratory disease has since been named COVID-19, short for Coronavirus Disease 2019.

The City of Arlington wants its residents and visitors to know that the Fire Department?s Office of Emergency Management are communicating closely with Tarrant County Public Health, the Texas Department of State Health Services, the CDC, the Arlington medical community, and other partners to monitor and stay up-to-date on this evolving situation.

Arlington's population is almost 400,000. I track numbers daily. The number of new cases has increased since the city began its reopening, but it's a steady increase as before reopening. I did not notice a spike in new cases.

By the way, our six high schools will have their graduation ceremonies in Jerry's World this summer.

Abbott & Costello keeps opening and refuses to challenge violators. Got my hair cut and had to wear a mask. No stash trim.

more testing, more cases

big time lag on deaths from the virus and then the publishing of those deaths, so there is no way that any of the deaths being reported are a result of the state reopening

With the reports that I have seen, it takes 10 days to 6 weeks for death to occur in most people. So, the numbers of deaths in about 10 days should tell us the effects of reopening.....

not all deaths are reported immediately, there is a lag in that as well - just because deaths are reported it doesn't mean they happened that day, issues with this just like the case reporting

also can we really trust that all of the reported deaths were actually caused by covid anyway????

The numbers have been very distorted, the bottom line is that we can not hide from this forever and have to get back to work or there will not be jobs to go back to. Does not seem this is going away anytime soon and I do not trust vaccines as they are not proven to be all that effective. This is a crazy world we live in today!

Fully understand that I am just some dude in nowherevile, but I still do not know anyone that has had this or even heard of anyone that friends know. I do have one family member and another friend that are both in the medical field and have been put on unemployment as hospitals are virtually empty and elective procedures are not being done. Starting to loosen up a little, but for perspective, that is where we are locally.

Clancy?s is one of our main haunts, and Daniel was a really nice guy and always took really good care of us - he will be missed

I know others who had covid, but Daniel was the only one I know who had severe health issues, (and in his case death), as a result

The virus is real - but the whole world shouldn?t have been shut down bc of it

And the streak continues.........Hedgehog has never posted one thing on Madjacks that has actually been correct.

I guess Obama killed all those people that died from the Covid-19 virus, yep, that's what happened. Ya know, like in that Colorado movie theatre shooting, yep, like that.
