Texas -2.5 over Illi ****

Texas has already beaten Zaga and Creighton and then a few cupcakes but all those games were at there new Moody Center in Austin where a slice of pizza is $8 . Texas is ranked no 2 in the country but hasn't played a road game yet. Tonight at Madison SQ Garden a neutral site they take on the Big 10's Illi. Texas coach Beard has brought a new structured cultural to this team. They are solid everywhere esp at the gds. Hunter the transfer from Iowa St could be the best player at the Garden tonite . Carr and Rice are outstanding up there and what s amazing is they don't turn it over. This is year 2 under Beard and he has recruited big and used the transfer portal He didn't have to rebuild this team and added a few players. The Mitchell freshman is 6'8 and a lefty that plays above the rim and energizes the team and the crowd with his slam dunks and inside play. Allen is solid inside and if Texas has any weakness's is its inside play. But their defense is so good everybody collapses and helps out The other night when Zaga's Timme posted up the Texas gds didn't allow a clean entry pass to him. Think Texas offense is so good the defense is forgotten. My only fear tonite is that this is there 1st rd game but if you look at last years team Texas went into Kansas on senior night at Allen Field House last year and lost in overtime. Have seen Texas play every game . They have the best 2-3 gd tandem in the country. Front line is good but I can see teams pounding the ball inside because the depth is not there. But Texas is more athletic and quicker inside.
Illi beat UCLA and just lost to Vir and then to Maryland. Both ranked teams . Its funny that the top scorer for Illi is Shannon who played for Beard at Tech . He hit 8 3's tres vs UCLA the other night. Was leaning towards Illi +4 but line has dropped. Think Texas has its head together in NYC and the whose gds never ever turn it over get a win at the Garden tonite .

Visiting teams meal money coupons are accepted. And where the visiting bus parks in the parking lot at Rode Hill is where Fordham Hospital was before it was demolished but it was where I was born back in the day . But there was no 3 pt line back then
