Kansas -7,5 over Texas *****
I capped this game last night...know Texas inside out...watched Baylor KU from the other nite...I had KU -10 to -11...the line opened at -8...was going to jump on it because I could see it going to -8.5 or -9..but waited this morning and it is -7.5 ...almost 4-5 points off my numbers..there for a 5 * play...I know Texas always play well in Allen Field House but think they are so inconsistent and have played 12 of 16 games in Austin...
KU has now won 2 straight after Udoke got hurt...Texas wins 2 in a row in conf and then loses to Ok St and Texas Tech..
Texas shot 2-22 the other nite in Stillwater..from the 3...they did better at home vs TT but still only shoot 32%..and lets not forget that playing in 12 home games..Shaka said it best.. "its either feast or famine shooting 3;s "..
KU has so much depth despite their center not playing.. Lawson could be B-12 POY..at 6'9 he scores and rebounds..but its KU's gds..Vick hit 6 of 8 from the 3...Dotson has to be the quickest gd in the country...so fast..Grimes and Garrett are 6'5 gds that can play the 3 or 4...a matchup problem for Texas tonite because their "bigs" can't be out there chasing these guys..and then the secret weapon...6'5 Ogabaji a 6'5 freshmen who Self decided to red shirt this year...but when Udoke went down they activated him...in 2 games he is avg 8 pts and 3 bds...but get ready...watch ESPN top 10 plays for the day...he will be on one...explosive and brings instant energy and offense...KU has not been blowing people away.. They lost to Iowas St big this week...but they spread the ball out playing 4 gds if you want to call them that...they rebound well,FG%,,ggod..one big weakness is FT %..but Texas FT% is even worse..
Texas has a lot of talent and with Hayes inside they defend the paint well.. Something KU doesn't do anymore since they lost their shot blocker..if you look at Texas starters think they have to juggle there team to matchup vs KU... Texas is an avg scoring team ranking them 252..maybe below avg..FG % is bad with 3 pt shooting...you would think they dominate the paint with all their bigs but they don't..they do play solid defense ...think Shaka will attack the basket with his gds..KU has 3 or 4 players with decent size that come off the bench...but Lawson inside can score...
Think KU at home with huge crowd and noise and those KU gds all athletic big and just as quick at Texas wins the battle..then Self puts in Agbaji and Allen Field House goes nuts..
KU wins by 12 -15 points...
