Seton Hall +1 over Texas ****
What a great game this afternoon or early night . Think it starts here in Texas at 5.30 so 6.30 in NY. Have seen Texas and they are talented and play outstanding defense with new Coach Beard. All these new kids Carr, Mitchell,Bishop and Allen are bringing something different to the holdovers Ramey,Febres Jones But Texas has been at home and played cupcakes after cupcakes. They beat UT Rio Grands by 30 the other night but was up only be 6 at the half. Texas is loaded but there only real challenge was vs Zaga and with its superior height advantage and they lost by 86-74. But Hall just beat our local college Nyack 113-67. A few years ago many HS teams could of beaten Nyack . Anyway Hall has had it shares of cupcakes too beating the Nyacks Wagners FDU's
etc But SH did play Ohio St and lost by 3 and beat Michigan by 2.
Think this game comes down to size and Hall has an air craft carrier in 7'1 Samuel protecting the rim and can score on offense. They also have one of the best front courts in the BE with Cale at 6'6 and Rhoden. Both play the G/F position wing position. Very tough to defend against because are you putting a fd or gd on them on defense. Then you have Harris who can shoot and score. They lost there big kid Mamaukele but have 7'2 Obiagu . Texas is quicker and smaller and has so much depth but there bigs haven't gone up against a Samuel and co yet.. When you play Houston baptist,Cal Baptist , Sam Houston Tex Rio Grande etc you aren't challenged . SH has gone up vs Michigan and Ohio St already . The one time Texas did go up vs a bigger team Zaga that had trouble defending and rebounding. . I know Zaga is not a great example because they are soooo good . But Longhorns have been playing at home and last night they got to see Broadway and Times Square times climbed the Empire St Building. Hopefully they took the elevator because then Seton Halls wins by 30. I know Beard stressed to his players this is not a sight seeing trip .We have a game tonight in Newark .. But Think Willard who is an outstanding coach catches the Longhorns still in awe of NYC and somehow leave some of their game on the 85th floor of the Empire State building. Think wrong team is favored also .
