5 unit 7-4

Today:

Iowa State +5 5 units

Only one game on the board tonight, Iowa St @ Iowa for an inner state rival between two teams in two different power conferences (Big 10 vs. Big 12). Iowa owns a 23-4 advantage over Iowa St at home in Iowa City. This is the first road contest for Iowa St. who brings a 4-1 SU record and 0-1 ATS. Their only loss both SU and ATS their last time out (Tuesday night vs a good but inconsistent Boston College). They actually came out on fire leading the game early only to go into a miserable shooting wirlwind to give the lead to BC. They fought back to within 2 several times before losing 85-78. Iowa too enters the contest with only one loss to an underrated Florida State team that they were atually favored over. Florida State dominated Iowa at home for the entire game winning 80-67. Besides FSU it is not hard to believe that their record is 6-1 SU when looking at their schedule. This Iowa team is not a good team this year but has had the luxury of playing N. Iowa, Southern Miss, Montana St., Tenn Tech, and Fla Atlantic AT HOME and only Drake and FSU on the road. 2-4 ATS vs. these teams (depending on the # you got vs. Drake could be 2-3-1). They were 13 point favs in their last game over N. Iowa and only won by 9, before that game they were 12 point favs over S. Miss and escaped with a 2 point victory....OH yea and they only beat Drake by one point early in the year. Iowa started the season with turmoil as Coach Steve Alford suspended a very talented Pierre Pierce to the dissatisfaction of many Hawkeye fans. But they have been able keep a strong TEAM Attitude, play good tough defense, take care of the ball lately, and give a lot of effort to win games that a program of their magnitude SHOULD WIN! Tonight, they will get a chance to play a team with a lot more scoring ability then any they have played yet this year (you could argue FSU). Iowa State's Coach Eustachy not only has A LOT MORE SCORING Ability on his team then the Hawkeyes, BUT he stresses Rebounding and Defense!!! The Cyclones are built on "Out Rebound Your Opponets and Defend Your Goal." Proof of this was their national 4th Place ranking last year in Rebound Margin. 5 of his 12 teams have finished in the top 5 and he has outrebounded every opponet so far this year with a margin of +12. They are also a very tough defensive minded team allowing only 38.7% shooting % (Eustachy's teams have only allowed 13 teams in the last 110 to shoot 50% or higher).....Iowa has a size advantage when they have 3 of these 4 on the floor (Reiner, Brunner, Worley, and Sonderleiter) both in muscle and heighth, but THEY HAVE NO ONE WHO CAN SCORE LIKE Sullivan and Vroman. Look out for The freshman Adam Haluska. SO HELP ME, If Brody Boyd comes out of his coma tonight!!! I only say this because as many of you know by now, I am die hard Hoosier fan and it seems when this kid plays us he has career games where he hits everything he throws up. (he's a gutsy little player from Indiana).....

I will wait a bit to see it I can get 6. If not still like 5 units on Iowa State +5. The money line is tempting but with the game being a Friday nighter in Iowa City I'm taking the points.......

Good luck,

YAZ
