While the leftists and media mocked, Reagan went ahead with his great vision and began one of his greatest legacies we call "Star Wars"

This will hopefully defend the country in the future

While the leftists want to give away free money for not working, Reagan put our tax money to work while paying for many Americans' health care, children's education, retirement, etc. etc. in the form of high tech jobs

Reagan provided services to people for work in the defense of this country....leftists want to provide them for sitting around defying human dignity

Where is Reagan when we need him????

Reagan provided a ton of work for people involved in SDI. I believe 50 billion dollars worth from 83-93. That's a lot of work.

Does anybody really believe an ICBM is our biggest threat today? It was during the cold war, so I understand Reagans ideas at that time, but please.

If you believe so, then you have Russia and China in mind. In that case, if it really ever came to that, we would have no shot whatsoever in shooting down every (any?) of the thousands of missiles and decoys they could conceivably send.

Other than those two countries, there are none that are anywhere near being able to reach us. Yes, that includes North Korea.

Do a little research on this subject, Freeze.

Your trying to become a doctor. If you stay one and best you can do for your patients is 50%. The rest screw ups. You might last one week. We have about 18 missiles after 50 billion spent. And best they have done so far is 50%.

lmao do you think the only place we will use this technology is to sit and wait for a missile to come our way???

and even if we do, do you think it would not pay off to be 50 years or so ahead of the rest of the world in defense someday sometime in this hectic world???

what else are you going to spend it on? a social program???? you are getting just as much value "socially" spending money on WORK than you would giving it away plus you create workers instead of feeders!!!!

yet the short sighted detractors are still here!!!

Do we think we will only wait for missiles to come our way? That's not how it works. To take out missiles before they leave the ground. We had that stuff long time ago. Not even part of star wars.

So. Cal
i dont know enough to have much of an opinion about "star wars" but i was watching a 60 minutes thing on it recently(or one of those news programs) and they said that it is far from fool proof and i quote "the system took down 4 of the 7 missles fired in the tests". So a lil bit over but still around 50%. Then there was this guy in a white coat and glasses but didnt say anything underneath his name. And he comes on and says its a shame the Bush administration continues to waste money on a project that just doesn't work. and i quote what he said next "To shoot down these missles going 18,000 miles an hour would be like trying to hit a hole in one on a hole moving 18,000 miles an hour".
I do not know about you guys but if i can hit a hole in one about 50% of the time without the hole going 18000 miles an hour then im doing pretty good.

Does that make any sense? Avg golfer hits a hole in one in his lifetime if he is lucky. So lets put that around 1 in 1000. These missle tests are foalling right around 50%. What an ignorant statement from someone who was probably portraying a engineer or scientest or something, but when he spoke he revealed his true nature......the jackass. Or maybe he is just so incredibly good at golf tat hole in ones moving at 18k mph is about a 50/50 chance?

How about we thank Reagan for equipping Saddam Hussein with his "weapons of mass destruction" back in the day, which supposedly allowed our country to be threatened by him over the past few years, to hear you and your neocon buddies tell it, Freeze. How much has that decision cost financially us since we started protecting ourselves from Saddam Hussein? We've certainly cut those programs you hate so much to pay for that.

I seriously doubt it would balance out, in the short OR long run, now would it?

So Cal
Hitting 50% of incoming missles beats the hell out of not any any. If it came to that, which I doubt, by the time we were through crushing them with 100% of our arms, that 50% might look pretty good.

Now were getting to the real answer and it don't cost 50 billion. And we have the weapons on hand. And they are dead nuts accurate as we have shown. They can hit with in a 1 yard square.
