i'm 47 years old. i have a wife, two kids and have been a player for 20 years. i have lost, won, broke even, gotten stupid, swore off playing when i have had bad days and have committed myself to never let my life be ruined by the roll of a ball. along the way, i have learned lessons. i believe my recent comments fall into the category of lessons learned.

yes, as i described earlier, i am like most of you: middle-aged, wife, kids, decent sort of guy, love gambling.

i absolutely love this sight. like many, i happend on it by accident and was reluctant to add anything until i felt confident that what i had to say was either coherent, stable or insightful. As i reflect on the few posts i have made, i am confident that most if not all were near to my aforementioned comment.

you all have my greatest admiration and respect. anyone who has been a player understands what i am saying.

yes, my comments relative to nolan were probably salty. however, as i wrote them it was important to me that nolan know of my frustration with winning rather than an indictment on his abilities, which i pointed out are without peer.

what have i learned? this is a great country and this forum is just a piece of it.
let us all strive to be civil but honest.
all of you have my deepest regard for your thoughts, and believe me i have read every post and clearly have gotten a wide perspective.

our goal should be to win, diagree on occasion, have some fun and relax to the extent that this forum gives us anoutlet that is enjoyable and something to look forward to on a daily basis.

BBF, As one who responded to your comments about Nolan, I appreciate you taking the time to express some regrets on said comments.

We can all agree to disagree at times, hell most of the time, but it's all about sharing information and collecting from the MAN!!

Good Luck

bigbucksfan,

It's obvious to me that this place is a politically correct forum especially when we talk about specific cappers in here. You say one critical thing, it's like lighting fireworks in here.

Will Nolan Dalla, and certain others in here get preferencial treatment? Sure looks like it. More known cappers in here will get more people coming to their defense than we would get if someone attacked us. There seems to be a heirachy in here. If the more known cappers in here made the same comment you made, I'm sure they'd get negative comments, but in a much more constructive critical way, unlike you, I or a few others would have, which would be insults or bashing.

I guess if you're in here long enough, you can tell which ones are more highly regarded or get more attention and others who don't get as much. I'm not being cynical, it's rather understandable.....it's all good to me.

There's a heirarchy everywhere two or more people come together. It's natural. From what I've read Nolan is smart guy and secure enough to take criticism. I also get the sense that he is one righteous dude. I'd say he's earned the respect he gets around here. Such a large contributor to the site should get some deferential treatment.

Critiques should be encouraged, but we should be careful about wording and tone when talking about another participant in this forum, no matter who they are.

hello there

you are partially right, but this thread is by no means anywhere near close to what you are suggesting. and to set the record straight: nolan may be at times moody, strongly opinionated (and who isn't?), but he is not by any means a PRIMMA DONA, who gets easily hurt or insulted if someone dares to disagree with him on his thread. au contraire, he is quite the opposite. than much i know of him.

while i agree that sometimes a crowd will jump on someone on this board, i think the nolan defense is just a bit different. i will step in when i spot one of these gang lynchings and try to put a stop to it. it usually involves bashing, which is not accepted at this forum, and 2 or 3 strong responses by some of the seniors here should suffice, without having the whole gang come on the poor fellow like a pack of wolves.

those of us who have read nolan, and saw him at times open up his life in front of us, right here at mj's, in full knowledge of possible negative repercussions, have a deep feeling for nolan the man, not the 'capper.

i know him just a bit better than most of you, having corresponded with him for about 3 years. we have a cordial, but very up-front relationship, and have yet to meet.

here at mj he has opened up his life, his feelings; everything with him is up front. sometimes it has brought him ill-will from those who strongly disagreed with him on some non-sports issues, but by far he has followers who understand what he is going through this season, as many of us are or have fallen in ruts at times.

if i know nolan at all, behind his smile and nice words he is burning up inside in his frustration with his "record" this year. he is just that competitive.

do i agree with everything nolan comes up with? heck no, but i respect him for not caring about what is politically or socially correct, and wish more of us would act that way. bbf did, but i will bet that if he had known nolan a little better, like some of us do, he might have re-considered not his thoughts, but his use of one or two words.

like i said previously, these threads do tend to get hot sometimes, and here both parties involved acted honorably; nolan taking no offense and bbf accepting his ire wrote those words, not his clear thinking.

case closed? yes, let's get back to football. i don't even know who is playing who.
