for your suggestions on where to eat in Knoxville. We all enjoyed Calhoun's--they even had 4 locally brewed beers than were quite good......:D. The view of the river from the restaurant is very nice, but all it did was rain the whole time we were in Knoxville.
Also had a very nice dinner at a place in the Old City called Lucille's. Then we stuck around for a great jazz quartet that played. It made those 6 dollar cocktails easier to drink.

Walked around Nyland Stadium, but couldn't convince the security guard to let us in to see the field. Don't think he was a sports fan because when we told him we were Iowa Hawkeyes, he just stared at us.

Where does everyone park for a game at Nyland? I know of the 5 story parking ramp right there-- but doesn't Nyland hold 117,000+ now?

Thanks again for your help.......:D

Yes, we've been getting a bunch of rain lately. Were you here when the tornado came through?
Glad Calhoun's came through for you. You're right, great view. Old City is pretty cool. Go to Melting Pot frequently down there and then window shop after dinner.
I haven't ventured over to Neyland yet. As much as the locals try, I'm a die-hard Seminole so I will NEVER become a Vol! I would like to see a game over there though.
I've asked the same question about parking. They park all over at the campus and then there's shuttles from malls and the agriculture building, places like that. Of course they park on the river too. :)
Glad your trip went well.

Nole-

We got into town the day after the tornado had struck. Saw lots of trees down along I-40 on our way in--then saw the other damage on the news that night. We were in Asheville the next week when that area had 4.5 inches in a 24 hr period. Have you been over to Biltmore Estate yet? Impressive place. I figured since I've seen many of Europe's castles, I should see one of America's. Pricey, though. 36 bucks for each adult ticket, 14 more if you want the audio tour and 30 more if you want the rooftop tour. We just wandered through the house and gardens on our own, no extras for us, and we thought we got our money's worth.

Taoist-

Kind of figured it was park wherever. Kinnick in Iowa City is the same way-- if you donate enough(1,000 + a season will get you decent parking; 5,000 + a year and you get to park right next to the stadium) you can park close, otherwise get there early if you want to get within a 20 minute walk. Will probably be visiting the area again-- got home and found out a buddy of mine got a new job in Atlanta and he's moving within the month.

Who knows? Maybe the Hawkeyes and Vols will schedule a home and home series in football and then drinks are on me when you guys are up here and you can return the favor when we are down there......:D

Thanks again, guys!

...if that happens, you have a deal, my friend. :D

...you know it's a shame that we don't schedule more Big 10 teams.... Good luck with your hawkeyes this upcoming season.
