Tough loss with Pepperdine. . . however, I was wrong in that the Zags handled the Wave fairly well in the rebounding department while I thought Pepperdine would keep it close. Guess I deserved to lose even by only a point.

Hopefully we can make up some ground by taking Illinois Chicago laying 1 over Loyola Chicago. Both teams split their two previous meetings with each winning at home. However, Illinois outrebounded Loyola in both meetings and should maintain this advantage in the third meeting. Also feel that Illinois is on a mission after quality wins against Detroit and Wisconsin Milwaukee their last two games.

One final reason to take Illinois over Loyola:

They are 12 and 1 straight up this year when favored including 4 and 0 ATS on the road. I'll take my chances and go with the better rebounding team and hope they shoot the ball as well or better than Loyola. Certainly not a game to play for a large sum of money, but a regular play in my book.

Might be my only play as Tuesday's card isn't as promising as Monday's.

I follow these two teams a bit and it definitely appears that UIC is the "now" team. They are 6-2 SU in their last 8 with losses coming at Butler and by 1 pt at Wright St. Loyola is 6-7 SU in their last 13 and one of the wins was vs IUPU-Ft Wayne. Thought they'd handle Wis-GB easier than they did, after Wis GB was coming off huge 1 pt upset over Butler. UIC has beaten some decent teams recently including Wisc-Milw twice, Detroit and Loyola. Jimmy Collins also claims he has some bulletin board material he overheard after Loyola won. I don't know if I can put any stock into that but if the players buy into it, thats all that matters.

I agree with you guys totally. Ive watch many games from these two teams on tv. Loyola goes as david bailey goes and uic will focus on shuting him down and who better to know how to do than than his brother who plays for uic.

Heres what people think in the city paper

The previous meetings:

Loyola 76, UIC 65

Jan. 17, 2002

At the Gentile Center

Corey Minnifield scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds coming off the bench to lead Loyola. Despite hitting only 6-of-18 from the field, David Bailey finished with 21 points for the Ramblers. Cedrick Banks registered a double-double for UIC, setting a career-high with 32 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

UIC 76, Loyola 63

Feb. 16, 2002

At UIC Pavilion

The Flames put the game away with a 17-3 run in the second half. Loyola shot only 27 percent from the field, its struggles typified by David Bailey's 7-for-25 shooting. Bailey led all scorers with 25 points, while Banks once again topped UIC with 20.

Limo Driver,

I'm surprised that those who voted in the Chicago Tribune would pick Loyola. . . any reason for this that you can think of?!?!? Is Loyola the more well known or "favorite" of the city? Interesting poll. . .

I dont think either is the city favorite i think that goes to depaul who is the talk of the radio waves today beause of the departure of pat kennedy, alot of rumors here nolan richardson might be one of the canidates, probably rumors. But anyway out of the two i always thought it was uic beause jimmy collins now the coach of uic used to be at illinois as lou hensons assistant and he recruited heavily out of the area. I have a feeling as it gets closer to game time when the blue collar workers get home the vote will get a little closer.

Pretty small sample size but the public has been known to not be the best prognosticators. They may look at conference record, of which Loyola has a slightly better record, but they clearly aren't looking at recent form. I consider this a good sign that the public likes Loyola.

Yeah, I'm not giving that poll very credence as well . . . just thought it was interesting and wonder why Loyola would be picked in this spot.

Still love Illinois tonight and even increased my wager a little while ago.
