hmmm I kmow Irwin isn't what he used to be --but he has finished in top 20 in every event--and I consider 100/1 @ 365 just a "little extreme" I'll have a look in a rare E/W ---also a couple offered at about 3 times their 2003 B-E-P odds I''ll gander at on places wagers top 4 (no more top 5's this year that I can find);)

Thorpe 10/1
Leitzke 9/1

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
OOPS I went back and wager has mysteriously disappeared but I did keep copy of slip--hmmmmm

:) Appears they voided it, which I have no prob with as it was obvious bad line. They have $50 returned on $25 E/w wager which was max they allowed.

This wireless conection I now have at office has been great for catching lines when dropped as I don't have to log on and off.

Bit me in the ass last week as I thought I had the nuts with
Goose over Parry and McGinley over O'meara at great odds on 72 holes but ole Murph swooped on me :D

Purtzer was 3rd on my list behind Thorpe and Leizke

The beards been treating me a little better this year---even slid a little 5 man P-lay in on em last week.:)

Am curious to see if 5 dimes line place on the Bush this week---took a little at 4 spots on Mallon and Kane---seems the Asain girls do not fire on all cylinders till a couple under their belts.

Outrights (? unit ew) ? ? 1st 4

Keith Fergus ? 125/1 @ William Hill
Tom Jenkins ? 40/1 @ Bet365

A tip of the hat to DTB & Clive for the heads up on these two ? a good look at the Tour Tips stats confirms some of his optimism.

Good Luck!

Outright plays (2pts):

Peter Jacobsen to win 9/1 @ Stan James
After a virtual stalemate on this Tour in the last few years, there is an exciting season in store as the new crop of 50-year-olds join the Champions Tour. Stadler joined last June, McNulty at the start of the year and Jacobsen this week. Hopefully Jay Haas will join in the near future as he has already turned 50. These players are still competitive on the main Tours as Jacobsen showed by finishing 14th in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last month and by winning the Greater Hartford Open last year. I would put him at much lower odds of emulating McNulty and winning on his Champions Tour debut.

Gil Morgan to win 20/1 e.w. @ Bet365 and BetInternet
The next two selections are certainly Tour veterans now and another positive consequence of the new arrivals is much better odds for these players whose odds have been woefully low for the past couple of years. This price looks more than fair for a player who has finished in the top-10 in every event he as started this season and who as finished in the top-3 here in each of the last two seasons.

Larry Nelson to win 33/1 e.w. Bet365 and SIA
And these odds also look very generous compared to previous odds for Nelson. It is not as though he is out of form as he has finished 4th and 2nd in his last two starts and nor does he ave a poor record at Valencia as he finished 3rd in 2001. Long may the new recruits create these types of odds as place finishes on this Tour once again entail a decent profit.

Matchup plays (2pts unless stated):

Mark McCumber to beat Andy Bean -140 @ Five Dimes
Bean hung on for a 7th place finish last week, but given that it was only his 2nd top-10 finish in his Champions Tour career (20 starts), he is not likely to repeat the feat this week. McCumber has finished in the top-25 in each of toe last two seasons here and leads Bean 9-2-1 2 during his Champions Tour career.

Peter Jacobsen to beat Hale Irwin -127 @ Five Dimes
With a best finish of 7th in four start this year, it may well be that age is finally catching up with Irwin. But with a relatively poor record on this course anyway, he is worth opposing and there will be few better players to back than Jacobsen this week.

Jim Thorpe to beat Bruce Lietzke -115 @ Five Dimes [4pts]
Since winning the U.S. Senior Open last June, Lietzke's form has been woeful. That may have been due to a recurrence of his elbow tendonitis earlier in the season, but he is currently recovering from a shoulder injury. But even if he were fit this week, his course form so poor that Lietzke is definitely one to oppose. All the better that is opponent finished 5th last year and has finished in the top-10 in three of four starts this year.

Outrights - Final update: 2-1; +30.25pts

Jacobsen 3rd
Morgan 1st
Nelson 2nd

Second great week in a row on this Tour! Also achieved my second trifecta on the Champions Tour with the only downside being that Jacobsen was a loser as a win-only play. With the new faces on the Tour, this really is a season of anticipation.

Matchups - Final update: 1-1-0; -0.80pts

McCumber/Bean LOST by 4
Jacobsen/Irwin WON by 3

Small loss on the matchups with the largest play void as Thorpe didn't start the event. Lietzke finished down in 33rd position and should have been an easy opponent.
