Player of the Week!

Gene from Arkansas is this week?s BLS Player of the Week. Congratulations Gene!!! He had a huge week in which his winnings tallied over $36,000. Gene made his money in several monster smashes on basketball teasers. His handicapping paid off in both College and NBA hoops. Great work Gene!

Fat Pat---

Janet Jones, Frank Stallone, Charles Barkley

The biggest sports story this past week has undoubtedly been the whirlwind surrounding the Gretzky family betting scandal. Apparently, the possible personal defenses Janet Jones might use are that she was simply placing bets for Michael Jordan and John Daly?s wife or that she is 1/16 Iroquois Indian.

Kevin Costner has announced his plans to debut his new band, which plays original rock music, at the next ?BMW Charity Pro-Am at the Cliffs? golf tournament. No one has heard the group yet, but Costner is hyping them as the next ?Waterworld? of the music industry. Some other celebrity musicians rumored to be included in the group are Frank Stallone and Allen Iverson.

NASCAR is unveiling a new plan to increase diversity in stock-car racing by involving more minorities in the sport. It?s a nice idea, but I don?t think the current plan to fill the pits with window-washing Hondurans and tire-changing Harlemites is really the type of diversity needed for the cornbread white sport.

In other minority news, Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry has lashed out at Charles Barkley after the former NBA star joked Oklahoma is, ?No place for black people,? and, ?The Oklahoma Sooners and the Hornets are the only brothers in town.? Henry questioned, ?Why is Charles picking on Oklahoma, we now have nearly 15 black residents in the state? And we?re not the only state like this. Karl Malone was the first black person ever in Utah, wasn?t he??

Police arrested 12 people in Detroit for selling counterfeit Super Bowl tickets and 73 fake tickets were taken from individuals trying to enter Ford Field on game day. Mike Tice has tried to distance himself from the crimes but Detroit police continue to consider him as a possible suspect.
