Can someone download the " British are coming" then suddenly it changes to " the Italians are coming" Someone on facebook sent it to me and its really funny.. not sure how to download it it here.
The Euro cup final today has all the makings of a great game.
The good news for me is I made 2 bets .. I took Italy way back to win it all at +800..a homer play but a few months later I took the team that I really thought would win the Cup England at +400.. Made only 2 plays.. So today I get to sit back and put my feet up and just cheer. Not going to hedge some money on England to even out the play.. just going to watch. I don't have to worry about 90 minutes, shootouts or draws. Someone has to win and I'm cashing in a winning ticket.
Italy has the better mid field play .think England has the over all better offense and Italy the defense. both coaches are outstanding but Italy's Mancini nickname is " king of the cool". Goal keepers are hard to judge because to me all of them are outstanding. I have watched about 4 or 5 games in the Euro cup and although I don't considered myself a huge fan but I get so tired of the acting of players. So many get hit and fake their injuries.. so many times the game is stopped as players lay their on the grass in agony. Then you see the replay in slow motion and realize its not as bad as the player is portraying ..it turns you off.. we see it in the NBA a lot but in soccer its a part of the game.. I think that turns so many of us off. There are legitimate injuries but regardless it puts a doubt in our heads. I know its the American in me and the European brain looks at it differently.
I watched Judge hist is homer vs Houston last night. As he rounded 3rd base he grabbed his shirt as if to protect someone from ripping it open . It was in reference to Altuve when he hit the homer in the world series vs the yankee's . They showed the replay of Altuve rounding 3rd base grabbing his jersey and you can read his lips saying. " don't touch me" as he is protecting his shirt being ripped off.. wow I forgot how blatant it was . I guess he was wired up so the Astros could signal him what.. anyway
My all time favorite soccer story. I told it here before I think a few times. but I like story tellers. My farther told stories to me all about world war two and you always remember stories..
It was the year the US was the host of the world cup They were playing at the meadow lands in NJ A sports writer from the NY Post was interviewing Paulo an Italian soccer fan about the chances of the US team . As he was interviewing Paulo he was kicking a ball with his right foot in the air continuously.. He just keep kicking it to himself. The sports write as he interviewed Paulo was impressed by his keeping the ball in the air.. One of the questions was Paulo thought only Rudy Meoli the goalie was world class and although thr American made the world cup they were only playing because the host team always get a team eligible..the inter view continued and Paulo suddenly switched the ball to his other foot. He had maybe 100 hits on one foot and then switched to the other. The writer was very impressed at paulos's ball control never once hitting the ground. The article went on and on but I always remember the ending. Paulo was a 12 year Italian kid doing the interview.. it was at that point realizing America is so far behind Euro and South american soccer .. I didn't need stats or records to see how far American needs to catch up behind the Italians Englands,Brazil's or Argentinian's Paulo said it all
If someone can download that " the English are coming" its pretty funny. Not to many times when we play you have a winner. Going to relax and sit back and try to figure out how to get out of 12th place out of 12 teams in fantasy teams Not getting any advice from paulo though.

Italy wins in penalty kicks. As a basketball coach I can't even imagine at the end of a tied game we go to Free throw's.a little different since there is no one playing defense. but somewhat similar. In NY State HS sports we go to " shootouts" in sectional games if someone has to move up in the State tournament. In regular season we play 2 10 minute overtimes. then 5 minutes sudden death ..if its still tied its a tie.. except in the state tournament . shootouts lets the goalie come out and play defense. The offensive player gets the ball about 35 yds out and can do what ever he wants. It gives the goalie a better chance ..

England scored early but the Italians didn't let that bother them.. Was wondering at the post game ceremony when they were giving out the medals almost all the English players that had a medal put around their neck took it off immediately before they left the stage.. Not sure if it was a message or something or just poor sportsmanship.

I wish someone here could down load the " the British are coming". thanks take a knee ... I appreciate that .. Have to put my college football hat on and get ready to capp some college football games. I have season tickets to the Texas St games. in the video the British are coming" he then says nooo its the Italians ... he was right
