How they come up with these 'probabilities' transcends my understanding.

I wonder what the standard deviation, or other measurement of error, is supposed to be in these cases. They have it pretty precise, what with that one decimal place.
Do these probabilities include players involved, stadium, weather conditions, or the phases of Jupiter's moons?
Hopefully our education systems are teaching that grain-of-salt bullshit. Hard enough that they're learning that people's faces are, allegedly, a disgusting thing to behold.
