i had it. trust me i sympathize.. i caught it on a saturday night. i did not leave the house again for 1 week and 2 days.

you will need.

nyquil
dayquil
advil cold and flu
advil cold and flu PM
tissue
soup
lots of water
and most of all a heating pad. (get ready for your entire body to be sore.) the heating pad was a life saver.

also i found that if i wanted to sleep i had to take the advil PM and nyquil at the same time..

get some rest and feel better

I cannot take off work. I've owned my own business for 16 years and am exposed to the elements and many people on a constant basis. These are some of the best things I've been able to find that work for me....

Once your throat starts to feel poorly or is already, gargle with hydrogen peroxide often. It tastes like shit and feels aweful in your mouth but will instantly kill all the germs and demons in your throat upon contact and give your body a fighting chance. I have a bottle of this in all 3 of my vehicles and a number of bottles in the house.

Alka Selzer Cold $ Flu
This item comes as tablets or gell caps. Also has a night-time formula. Doesn't cure the flu and isn't cheap but releaves you within minutes after taking of many of the aweful symptoms of the flu and allows you to be functional. As I said, I cannot and never take off work.

I also take vitamins
A multi, C, and Echinacea. I take these year round but especially during the flu season.

Also
drink lots of OJ. The vitamins and the fact that you are rehydrating yourself makes this the perfect accompanyment to soup.

I also eat. I'm not just talking about eating. I can eat a lot normally but put it into high gear when I don't feel good. I seem to turn into a furnace of sorts and I feel better when I eat.

Sleep as often as possible while doing everything else above.

gargling with very warm salt water is a little more pleasant, and I think it helps a lot.

When flu is discussed, I hear about 2 kinds. One is the kind you all are discussing with the body aches, runny nose, sore throat, cough, malaise, and anorexia. When I think of the flu, I think fever over 102, lots of vomiting, and lots of diarrhea. IMO, that's the flu, and that's what the "flu shot" is trying to combat.

When you guys feel shitty enough, and your throat is shot, you try it and get back to me. On a scale, it's about equally as aweful as salt water, not any worse, and much more affective.

I believe a lot of these winter ills start in your throat and sinus/nasal areas. The little buggers lurk there for a bit, talk to each other and grow, then make a run for the rest of your body. Taking the battle to them in your throat and nose is a good start.

I've been taking these measures for years and my income depends on my ability to succeed.;)

If you have a health food store close by, go and get some Colloidal Silver. It is called the natural antibiotic is nothing more than microscopic silver particles suspended in water. When the silver comes in contact with whatever is making you sick, it kills it instantly. I have used it for years for myself and family, and it has been a great addition to the medicine cabinet. Isn't the cheapest stuff in the world (I have found a place on the internet that does sell high quality at a reasonable price) but you get what you pay for. Mix 1 tblspn CS with 1 tblspn water, put it under your tonque for 30 seconds or so, then gargle, then swallow 2-3 times per day. Good Luck

"Hand washing is cheap, it's easy to do and it works," says Dr. Gerberding of the Center for Disease Control. " I think if we were really compulsive about washing our hands, we could drastically reduce our risk of colds and flu."

With the cold and flu season upon us and the shortage of flu vaccines, hand washing is one of our best defenses. Please encourage hand washing at home and ensure that you have a nail brush at your bathroom sink. The basics of hand washing are: wet, soap (enough to cause bubbles), 20 seconds of scrubbing, and rinse. In addition to thorough washing after using the bathroom, hands should be washed before eating, after handling meat, fish or eggs, after using a tissue or coughing or sneezing into hands and after playing with a pet. Other "handy" health rules are keeping fingernails short and clean and keeping hands and fingers out of the mouth."
............................................................................

hope you get to feeling better.

TV, fortunately, I don't get sick very often, but when I do, I break out this stuff and it usually snuffs it out pretty quick. I have used it on my 10 year old daughter quite a few times and most of the time, the fever breaks or the sore throat disappears within 24 hours of taking it.

I don't know if you remember, but when all of the anthrax stuff was going on, some politician started drinking way to much of this stuff thinking it was going keep him safe, but his skin started turning yellow like he had jaundice. Once he quit taking it, his skin turned back to its normal color. If you follow the directions, this should not be an issue.

Here is where I get it. A little goes a long way and it keeps a lot longer if you buy it in a glass container. I make sure I always have some on hand. Good Luck

I might try that Colloidal Silver if I have to. I'm still wary about the hydrogen peroxide. Look what it does to blondes. :yup I'm very wary of catching the flu. If I show symptoms, it usually means a lot of people are going to catch the hell of their lives. I usually don't get sick, but if I do, watch out because what I pass along will make you feel like you are ready to meet your maker. :nutkick
