The Greatest American

Not sure if many of you are watching this show on Discovery. It's shown on Sundays and repeated on Thursdays. I find it interesting just to hear all of the little historical tidbits and brief bios of the nominees. They're cutting it down by the week, and I think it's going from 25 to the final five this Sunday.

The voting will obviously be skewed based on recentness of the nominees (I mean come on, love him or hate him, GWB should NOT be a leading vote-getter for the greatest American ever... in my humble opinion, Bush, Clinton, Reagan or JFK shouldn't even be mentioned, but that's just me). But I was just curious who would get the vote of Madjacks Nation, so thought I'd throw this out there.

My vote: Franklin Roosevelt

also would like to hear folks from a left point of view defend what he did to the supreme court especially if they were against the "nuclear or constitional" option

i agree with freeze that wahington is probably the greatest american.

i would also vote for lincoln who kept the country from breaking up & roosevelt for how he handled the war & the programs that he started (imo those programs were needed then).

coming in 4th would be madjack for starting this forum. most of us would be lost without it.

so did everyone back then and everyone with any wealth in all of history before them...does that make them all bad people in your mind?
