The Greek Sportsbook officially released odds for the popular college football season win totals.
The Greek is an online sportsbook with its main office in Jamaica and considers its offering of college sports propositions among the best in the industry.
Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Ohio State had the highest expectations of 10.5 wins to lead all teams covered by The Greek, action has moved some of the win totals already. The pre season Big 12 favorite Oklahoma returns 14 starters from last years Holiday Bowl championship team. Bob Stoops returns 9 starters from a stout defensive unit last year and compares this defense favorable to the one that lead Oklahoma to the 2000 National Championship.
Ohio State finds itself with lofty expectations after winning the Fiesta Bowl earlier this year against Notre Dame (10.5). The Buckeyes have two difficult road games early in the year at Texas (9) and at Iowa (8.5), if they can handle those hurdles it should be clear sailing until the last game of the year against bitter rival Michigan (8.5).
Charlie Weiss will lead Heisman Trophy hopeful Brady Quinn and 15 other returning starters from last years squad. The Fighting Irish always have a competitive schedule and include road games at Georgia Tech (6.5) and at Southern California (9.5) among their most difficult challenges of the 2006 season
Defending national champion Texas has a posted total of 9.5. Texas has a solid returning 13 starters and are loaded with young players who hope to lessen the impact of losing 2 time Rose Bowl MVP Vince Young. The schedule makers were kind to Texas this season as they only have to play on the road 4 times and only have to leave the state twice during the year. As always the key game for the Longhorns will be an early October game against rival Oklahoma (10.5), a game at Texas Tech (7.5) follows later in the year and appear to probably stumbling blocks in their fall campaign.
Urban Meyer's Florida Gators return 12 starters off the Outback Bowl championship team and find their season total at 9.5. Meyer in his second year faces tough road games at Tennessee (8.5) at Auburn (9.5) and finish the year at in-state rival Florida State (9.5). Ten wins by the Gators would probably mean they are BCS bowl bound in just Meyer's second season.
West Virginia the defending Sugar Bowl champion and pre-season darling Louisville lead the Big East with a win total of 10. The Mountaineers return 14 starters from last years team including sophomore quarterback Pat White who did it all for them last year.
