balls 6 to 8 inch outside called strikes is pathetic..cant wait for the robo umps to be used in mlb..likely still 2 or 3 years away though!!

I love the dopes who cry, "human element" when these guys blow call after call. Real Sports on HBO did a piece on this subject, and it was shown that a game could be called flawlessly as far as balls and strikes go, yet the "purists" refuse to listen. Even Bryant Gumbel said he was not in favor. He said, mistakes are part of the game.

I've posted on here before that I believe the only people who say things like "mistakes are part of the game" or "we still need the human element" are the people who know they (or their team) aren't good enough to win without bad calls going their way.

Come watch 12u little league...A bunch of old timers umps. These fucking morons call strikes from the shoes to the eyes and a foot either way off the plate. I confronted one yesterday. I said your zone is ridiculous these are kids learning how to play baseball and you're calling strikes like they have little chance to hit it? You're only hurting these kids in the learning process. His response - Are you complaining? I said no i am making a realistic observation. He said - Tell your kids to swing at everything they should be hacking away. I said you isnt MLB its for fun. He gave me a dirty look.
