I hoped that this film was going to be another Goodfellas or maybe even Casino. I would have settled for Mean Streets. It was none of that.

Jimmy Hoffa is as much of a main character as Frank Sheeran although Frank is definitely the main guy.

What I loved about this movie:

The scenes where Deniro kills people with the stupid snub-nose gun. Fucking brutal, gritty and awesome. I hate snub-nose guns. It's like a dad with white shoes and white calf-high socks.

Joe Pesci. He is masterful in this role.......and he didn't even want to do it. I loved every second he was on screen even though he wasn't yelling YOUJEWMUTTAPHUCKAYOU! Pesci is soooooo good.

The De-Aging software - making Deniro and others appear younger somehow didn't distract from the movie. It seemed real. (By the way.....all you fucks watching this shit in 4K.....it'll probably suck for you. Change your settings unless you love the look of shitty soap-operas)

Fuckin' Pacino. He didn't play his role too big. Just right. Wasn't overpowering or anything....just believable. I loved the ice cream scenes. I guess Hoffa was addicted to it. There is a scene where he insults Anthony 'Tony Pro' Provenzano and it's fucking great!!!!! Also, when Pacino explains "You always charge a guy with a gun! With a knife, you run away." is funny too. It's very Pacino style.

Seeing Harvey Keitel acting like a mob boss was like a warm blanket. Love this guy and his presence is a nod to Mean Streets.

Sebastian Maniscalco is a comedian and plays Joseph 'Crazy Joe' Gallo and is great in his role. His assassination is really brutal. At a diner with his kids......but the best part is when he tells Frank "Gettthefuckouttahere" is perfect. Disrespectful and harsh, but great because you know his death is a certainty and you as the audience prepares for it. GREAT SCENE!

There are quite a few car bombs in this movie. Love a good on screen car bomb. There is one scene I really liked when Hoffa's wife is fired and she goes to start the car. You really don't know if it's going to explode or not. Really cool to watch.

There is a scene where Frank is selecting the right gun for the job. All of the guns are on a bed. It's short, but it stays with me.

The scene with Frank TRYING HIS BEST to tell Hoffa that he needs to step away and Hoffa DOES NOT FUCKING GET IT.....this is one of the best scenes in the movie. It's at Frank's award ceremony.....this scene is incredible. Absolutely incredible.

You get to watch how Frank deals with having to kill Jimmy and that scene in that Ho Jo's diner where Pesci tells Deniro's character is magic.

I hate it when Deniro's character is picking out his own casket, but reminds the audience back when he made the German soldiers dig their own grave.

What I do not like about this movie:

The length. Could have been shorter - even if only by 30 minutes.

Score: 7.8

Not enough explosions, huh?

Agree on the length. Several scenes could be cut and dialogue shortened. Easily done, and wouldn?t have hurt the movie. Of the scenes u mentioned, I liked Mrs Hoffa starting her car the most.

this is a fantastic review of the movie..

you might want to put a warning up for those who have not seen it yet ..

your writing skills come out in great details and are superb for a review ..

maybe just maybe a little too much detail for those who haven't seen it yet..

just a thought Nick..

That has to be the longest time Di Niro has been on screen without a line.

I was gonna mention how good I thought that was too. He was concerned about the job he had to do coming up. It was played great, IMO.

He should have put the fish in the trunk. Who puts a fish on the back seat!

Nice car, btw. I had 4 of those in my lifetime.

Jack.....please do this.....

Go to Netflix
Search for a TV show called Black Mirror
Go to season 4 (every show is a stand alone episode like The Twilight Zone)
Watch the first episode of season 4 called USS Callister
It stars Jesse Plemons
Then I'd like your review of the episode
