A crappy week all around for numbers. Starters resting everywhere, and not just sitting out the game, but also engaging in a practice started by Popovich and the Spurs (back when they were contenders, not now when they’re tanking), was to “rest” starters by not playing defense, down the stretch when they had their playoff position secured. Many teams have copied them, and are doing it ever earlier. It makes a joke out of past-performance-data projections.
The score/projection differential is pushing the envelope of failure, and although I won’t pull the plug right away, I’ve got Feb. 16[SUP]th[/SUP] penciled in as the last day for the Limper until the playoffs.
